First really hot day here in the midwest. 2014 RDX A/C was blowing cold no issues yesterday and this morning before we left it outside in the sun all day.

Late afternoon my wife goes to make a trip and says it's not blowing cold. Car never cooled off.

I swapped a relay (horn) in and that didn't fix it. Put it away in the garage and have it sitting overnight. I expect it to work fine tomorrow morning and will try to keep it cool when not in use.

Weather cools off again Wednesday, so that buys me a week or two.

If this is the A/C system starting to go, I'd like to get the ball rolling as a handful of my shops seem to be scheduling 3+ weeks out. Would also consider the Honda Dealer I take my 2011 CR-V to for some things. I read about service bulletin 12-039 on the 1st gen. Do shops replace Compressor Clutch and Field Coil and leave working Compressors, or do they prefer to replace the whole system if they find any of it at fault?

I'm not very educated on freon so I'm not clear when or if it ever makes sense to pay for those recharge services or any checks on freon. Feel like that's an easy place to get burned (pun not intended), but open to ideas.

Thanks.

PS, I just did pads, rotors and calipers on my '11 CR-V and Friday the alternator went out, so the timing is impeccable.

2014 RDX with 457k miles. My driver side low beam is not working. I moved the working bulb from passenger side. Doesn't work. Then checked the connector. it shows 0 volts. Checked connector on the passenger side. Shows 14.5v. Checked Fuse 23. It is good and shows 12.5v. So i am guessing a relay is broken. But relay is supposed to control both bulbs. I can't find where this relay is in the fuse box in engine compartment. I looked at the underside of the fuse box lid. Can't figure out which one if any is a relay possibly causing this issue. Does anyone know? Should I look elsewhere? Thanks.

Hi. Bought a car. Trying to determine if the code P0741 has ever occurred on the RDX. An Acura tech told me this:
“once the code is gone from the PCM it’s gone forever, but if the Navi system or messages haven't been cleared we should be able to see if there's a diagnostic message for that P0741 code.”

does anyone know about this. I’m wondering if to access the Navi messages. Do I need a mechanic to do this? Acura tech specific or any mechanic shop? If there is a shot the code ever presented in the past and there’s a way to find out I want to because I have 2 thousand miles left to take advantage of the extended warranty. Thanks for any help.

Hi Acurazine Followers,
I have a 2013 RDX All Wheel Drive that has a current permanent p3400 code, that failed CA smog, with 113,000 miles on her.

Back in 1/9/2025, I had an p3400 flashing fault code, my mechanic replaced the Variable Timing Control Unit, for bank 1. I also changed just because they were inexpensive, both pressure sending switches. The light reset & I assumed that the repair fixed the p3400 code, off I drove her until I needed my smog checked, 7,000 miles later. It didn't pass smog for my April registration, back to the mechanic.
The shop just checked the whole car out again, not finding any wrong, just the permanent p3400, that won't go away.
Mechanic thinks it is either a pcm issue or a piece of crap in the oil passages that feeds the variable timing control unit for bank one. It is not enough psi loss to trigger a p3400 flashing light, the pcm won't reset to clear the permanent fault code p3400.
Shop is a bit baffled about the code, not sure what to do next, other then putting a bomb to it.
Maybe I should sell it cheap and buy a new car? Or Throw some Seafoam in it, change the oil, drive it and see it it resets the code?
Loss in p3400 hell!,
Mark
