So my tranny went on 01 CLS

After 248650 km, original tranny with oil jet kit gave up on my 01 NBP CLS. Was driving on the hwy @ 110km/h and CEL came on without any sign of slippage.

Made it back home and pulled code P0740 (Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Malfunction).
Cleared the code and went out for a test drive and it started to slip as i could see the rpm going wack
Pulled code P0750 and P0730.
Pulled all solenoids out and they look clean. Tested them and found Linear Solenoid Assembly (on top of tranny and beneath battery holder) was not responding to 12V input.

So i placed an order for this expensive part ($450 from dealer) but i was able to get it for $250 online with express shipping. Hopefully this will fix the problem.

Have always drain and fill ATF every 20k with Acura ATF-Z1 but switched over to the ATF-DW1 last year because dealer no longer carry the Z1.

If this doesn't work, what would you guys recommend? Trash the car (dealer wanted $2K when it was still working for a trade-in), replace the tranny from the dealer with a rebuilt one ($6K), or replace with a used from junk yard?

get a used odyssey tranny and swap that in. https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-cl-problems-fixes-70/another-solution-my-auto-cl-guys-758220/

Look at carpart.com for the tranny. You won't get anything for the car now that the tranny is done. So i guess you can trash it, throw in a used tranny and keep it or then sell it. If there are other big maintenance items to do then might not be worth fixing it.

So i took the linear solenoid assembly to work and applied 12V to the terminal; it shows 5.3ohms, and draws almost 2A on the power supply current display. Is that not too much current for a tiny solenoid to draw 2A?

So i had it replaced with a rebuilt one for $1500 at Rutherford Transmission with 20k km or 1 year warranty. It was quick. Dropped off Thursday evening and i was able to pick it up Friday evening.

Before this, I had it towed to Acura 2000 for diagnostic on Monday evening. They charged me $136. Called the service advisor a few days later and he said nothing was wrong with the car. Technician didn't pull any code from my vehicle. I asked if they were sure about that, did they take it out for a test drive after the engine warmup. I asked again, are you sure about that? It slips. He said to give him a second to talk to the technician. He came back to me and said that i needed a new tranny. He provided me 2 options; replace with a rebuilt one from Honda for $5000 or rebuild my as in take it apart and replace what's needed for $2200 to $2500 plus tax at the minimum.

So i paid for my stupidity diagnostic fee and had it towed to Rutherford Transmission. Once i arrived, the owner looked familiar. It was my older sister's friend from back in highschool. Small world.

Why not the oddy Trans? I hope this doesn't fail on you again, but you just put the same problematic Trans back in.
