Last year I got her (us) a cruise to the Eastern Caribbean, year before that a Yorkie...this year nothing! Jk, got a nice coat & possibly doing a remote starter since her car sits outside for 8 hrs at work, she's only 115 lbs & ALWAYS cold.

I would never attempt to buy a woman clothes, and I tell them not to buy me any...I'm way too picky and they'd most likely be wasting their time.

Pea coats and the like are all pretty generic. Jeans, shirts, and the rest of that crap are an entirely different matter.

Yup! He didn't want anything else anyway, and I thought this would help out a tiny bit with all the stuff he's going to have to buy soon. So this is just a head start. He's going to be spending money like crazy pretty soon, so needless to say, I'm not expecting much for xmas this year.

Yep.

I always suggest them to find an odd job for me to do instead of shopping for a bunch of gifts, which I hate doing with a passion. Whether it be something they want done on their car, something with electric in their house, fix their computer, etc. Keeps me from having to buy a bunch of crap they might not like, and I know that they'll get some use out of it. I do the same with family members.

Sometimes I make it a surprise too. One year I installed a ceiling fan in my girlfriend's room because she was always bitching about it being hot in there.

What size are we talking about? Several under 30" 1080P LCD's are dirt cheap right now.

I wouldn't if I was in your case. If I was backed up bills I have to take care of myself first.

She should understand if she knows your situation. Perhaps some flowers and/or something else that shows you care but is relatively inexpensive?

It would be nice to get something, but I understand his situation. He's dropping a lot of money on a house. He WAS going to get me this ruby and diamond ring I wanted before the house situation worked out. Now, I'm not so sure. Honestly, at this point I'd rather him get me something cheaper and save the rest for an engagement ring.

I forgot, I also got him "The Hangover" DVD. We saw it in the theater and thought it was hilarious. So not all of his gifts are "put ya to work" gifts.

The hubby has been bitching about how our TV is not big enough to watch football. Since his birthday falls on January, my Christmas and birthday gift will be combined to get a new Sammy.

Good girl! You got your head on straight, a home & engagement rings are much better than some cheesy gift this year that will set you guys back. Good luck.

A tanzanite and diamond pendant necklace. Tanzanite is one of those gems that will become rare very soon - then the price will escalate. Only found in one place in the world.
