What would you do if your wife...
I'm crazy, and I'd leave myself as an opening statement.
But what would you do if you wife went to dinner (a few times a week) with your only daughter's best friend's dad? His house is twice mine, and he supposedly has a girlfriend in another state. He has custody of his only child. But they all go together and sit as one happy family.
They roll in around midnight, and she (my wife) can never produce a receipt where she paid for herself and my daughter. David always pays... such a gentlemen.
I really would not give a crap, but I pay every bill coming into the house. She takes her money and spends it as a sailor, and then two days after being paid she wants money for gas in the Acura RL I bought.
I may be signing off, there is limited access to the net in prison.
Lawyer up or Load Up?

Prof, sounds like you really need to have a heart to heart with the wife and figure things out. When women do things like that it's usually in response to something they are not getting at home. Having been through a similar situation like that, my best advice is not to go off the deep end and do your best to stay calm and listen. React and respond later once you get a chance to digest the information. You and I are too old and wise enough to know once you say something you can't take it back....

Old Klingon proverb... revenge is a dish best served cold.
But I have contacted my lawyer... he was funny. He said this will be so easy, I may end up paying you.

Why don't you try talking with your wife? Mention that the regular dinners doesn't make you feel comfortable, especially since the guy seem to always pay for the meals.
By the way, has the dad of your daughter's best friend extended a dinner invitation to you? Or is it always just with your wife?

I've been talking about this estranged relationship for years now. And the reason I'm still in it is hoping to have a father/daughter relationship, being lazy to go through a divorce, wanting to keep my house, etc.
I mean where will the dog eat a 1908 rug at?
I'm glad she has found somebody to talk to (and probably screw). Given the same option, I can't blame her.

Let her eat his money. Pocket money saved. Buy yourself a hooker with said money.

You know, I'm usually the last one to be on side of divorce. I don't know a lot about your situation. But this sounds over the line to me, even for an estranged relationship.
I think this situation is only going to lead to very unhealthy tension if it hasn't already, which will put your daughter in the middle of it. One has to wonder if your relationship with your daughter wouldn't be better by distancing yourself from the drama this is going to kick up.
FWIW, what would I think? Wife is being totally inappropriate. I don't get how she thinks that going out on dates behind your back is in your daughter's best interest.

The daughter comes along as well?
I don't know how well your relationship with your daughter is, but if anything happened between your wife and the dad and she knows about it, you should see some signs from her, especially if she's old enough to know what's going on.
But if it's always with the kids, you might be okay. Even if I or one of my parents hated the other parent, I would make sure the estranged parent knows what's going on.
Just ask if you can tag along one day. If your wife is uncomfortable or dinner is awkward, that might raise some red flags.
If it ever got to that point, I would seriously consider renting a car and tailing them to see what goes on when you're not around.
OR
You go to dinner, everyone has a good time, and you make a new friend. . It's very important to have an open mind and realize either situation is equally possible, so you don't come off as the bat-shit crazy one. Nothing's probably happening.

Advice #1: don't seek advice on any forum
Advice #2: Californication is a show, not a way of life
Advice #3: Talk to the wify and her parents.
Advice #4: Only a low life loser would continue to get him self involved with a married woman and her kids. The douche deserves a beating, but abstain from it, you will win the in the long run. If your wife has respect for you, she will cease t immediately. I just wonder what the explanation would be.
Advice #5: Take it easy, everything will be alright, life is funny this way. A few curved balls keep us young, healthy and motivated.

Hire a private investigator to tail her for a couple weeks and gain some evidence for the divorce... In my opinion your wife shouldn't be coming home at midnight from a family dinner.
