Wedding/Engagement Rings

For some reason I always thought that wedding rings are worn on the right hand, on the ring finger (finger next to the pinky).

Maybe I'm just dumb (that's a good possibility) or the ring finger is varied? I remember a few years ago, a gf gave me a nice silver ring (it was just jewelry, as far as I know) - and I wore it on my left hand, on my middle finger. I remember my boss commenting that he thought I was married, and I remember telling him "Wrong finger, wrong hand." And I remember a lady from HR questioning me one day about my wife....

So what is it? Left Hand middle finger = engagement ring? Left Hand ring finger = married? Quick internet research says yes...somehow I grew up thinking otherwise.

I always thought its the left hand, ring finger, for both engagement rings and wedding bands.

Left hand, ring finger. That is why it is called the ring finger.......

Historically, men have worn their university class ring on their left ring finger until they get married, then switch to their right ring finger..

In some circles, wearing a wedding band on the right ring finger is construed as an expression of a same-sex committed relationship, although I believe more and more gays are wearing bands on their left finger in order to minimize differentiation between gay committment and straight marriage.

Yes, you are just dumb. The ring finger is left hand 4th finger (next to pinky). Girls wear their engagement ring there and when they get their wedding band, they either wear both on that finger or replace the engagement ring with the wedding band. Guys wear their wedding band on that finger. Many girls wear rings on their right hand 4th finger as jewelry but left hand is the traditional hand.

But you can wear your wedding ring on your dick for all anyone cares. I say it's a free country.

Actually, this may be a cultural thing... I remember I had a Pakistani friend who asked me the same question; she always wore her wedding ring on her right hand, and she asked me why I was so dumb, wearing it on my left.

Were you in Pakistan at the time? If not you should have mocked her for a good 72 hours, if not resorted to some sort of physical reprimand.

its left hand, ring finger. Always has been.

In pakistan its worn on the right because they use the left to clean their ass. Its also seen as very impolite to eat food with your left hand, for the same reason.

Oh trust me. We had some good Muslim vs. Catholic battles during our lunch breaks. She liked to tease me that I had to wear a mantilla in church yet I complained about her veils. I liked to tease her that I could tell my husband to suck my dick and make his own dinner without fear of getting the crap beaten out of me.

When I go to church, that is. Which is... never? Very rarely, if ever? Not since Christmas, that's for sure.

My church is super conservative... it was the only one in Orange County that still did the tridentine mass until Fr. Johnson retired, and now that honor goes to some church in San Clemente. But yeah, most women wear the mantilla at my place... if you didn't already, you get shamed into it, the way only old Catholic ladies can shame ya. "Oh, you don't WANT to honor Our Lord during Mass? Okay...."

White if you're unmarried, black if you're married. Or widowed.

Yep left hand ... From what I have heard it was that way because you were supposed to wear your wedding band closest to your heart...
