Need ideas for a Christmas gift for the gf
Been dating my gf for almost a year. Serious relationship, going really well.. her family is coming to my parent's house for Thanksgiving .
I need ideas on a Christmas gift for her, but I'm not going to splurge. She is the type of person that already has everything she needs so I don't want to get her a 'thing' (and definitely no giftcards!); I was thinking more like a nice time out.
I saw that Trans Siberian Orchestra is coming to town a few days after Christmas and was thinking about going out to that show and dinner. Or any other ideas?
Depending on the quality of answers, pics might be posted.

I'm surprised this thread hasn't gotten 40 or 50 responses.
The show is a good idea, but that is more a date and less a "gift."
I'd give her a small momento of something/someplace significant to both of you, like a snow globe or a drawing of where you met, or something along those lines.
G/L!
pic? (of her, not you! )

Some girls would appreciate moments more then gifts. take her some where romantic or fun, etc. Take her to a vacation.

Vacation is too early unless you're wanting to do a gift for like Feb/Spring Break time then I just don't think its really a 'gift' at that specific time.
I'd say the best thing would be jewelry. Nothing too expensive because it seems you're trying too hard, but something low-to-mid priced that would make her ecstatic.

I kind of spoil my GF. I've gotten her many expensive things but probably her favorite gift that I got her last V-Day was one of those perpetual drinking birds - it cost something like $8. I remember that she had talked about having one of those birds in a conversation about her childhood one time.
Try to find something novel like that, where she mentioned something fondly, but hasn't thought about it for a long time. It shows you're actually paying attention to details.

You know the rules, pics first, so we can gauge the gift.
TSO and a nice dinner sounds like a win

It sounds to me like you're on the right track as long as she likes Trans Siberian orchestra. If not, do something you haven't done before together, go somewhere you can have fun and laugh together. I'm sure you've already been there, but the Wolfgang Puck restaurant downtown in Dallas is pretty nice. My parents took us for apps/cocktails there when my wife and I came down to visit them.

The only reservation I'd have about an experience gift when you are dating is how is differentiating it from a regular date. Especially if you're not splurging. It's a little different if you have two kids and never get out - then an evening out is special. But when you are dating you run the risk of, "Merry Christmas! It's our next date....".
I might be more inclined to stick with an experience but make it focused on her. Spa day, massage, manicure, etc. Something that's uniquely for her.
Does she have a best friend? Maybe get with her friend's SO and go in on a girls night out? Maybe her and her friend go to Trans Siberian Orchestra?

From what I've heard Trans-Siberian Orchestra is doing pretty much the same "Lost Christmas" performance they did last year. I saw that last year and it was definitely a great performance It's worth the price if you think she'd enjoy that sort of thing.
As a matter of fact when I went it did seem like there were quite a few couples there, having their night out.

This may sound dumb...but what about a high quality pillow?
That's what my wife asked for. And I'm getting one for my mom too. I never knew pillows could be such a thing but damn! Log onto Amazon and they have $300+ pillows! Lol

It's all relative. Right now, and since last Friday, it is freezing, sometimes literally. In any case, it gets cold enough in DFW for Texans to need winter gear.
The wife mentioned tonight house slippers that have integrated socks which cover the calves.

How did I know you would find that post and make that reply? I even was sure to cross check the dictionary before I posted just because of you.

Slipper socks are a chick thing, and a perennial stocking stuffer that's impossible to screw up.
Well, air the place out before you have company.

Haven't looked yet. If you find any, let me know.
My wife's birthday is early January, so I have two opportunities to win brownie points.
...or screw up.
EDIT: She asked for a Baiden Mitten this year, but beauty products can be a tight rope. You don't want to insinuate that they need to improve. Comfort or sexy are always winning options.

A panini press? Men need sammiches
In reality if she "has everything", I like the memento idea. Another option would be a spa day, maybe a couples spa day?
