Give me your best/favorite holiday cookie recipe!

For christmas, we're having a competition for who can make the best holiday cookies!

I've never baked cookies before. But I also hate losing.

Got any awesome recipes that I can use?? I gotta think of presentation also...
Will be scouring the webs when time gets closer. And I need to do these within a day since thats all the time i'll have.

Thanks for the help!

My mom's famous Pumpkin cookie recipe

These cookies are very addictive and must be consumed with a large glass of milk. This recipe is easily doubled to give away to your friends and neighbors too!

Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Use a cookie sheet with some non-stick spray, and/or use aluminum foil
(Pam baking spray works really well and has a sweet flavor)

1 cup Pumpkin (you can buy the canned pumpkin, it works fine)
1 cup sugar
1 cup shortening at room temperature (Crisco)

Combine well.

Add these in order while mixing

2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
1 bag of chocolate chips
1 cup raisins
1 cup chopped walnuts

Use a tablespoon and just glob them on the sheet, about one or two inches apart. Bake for 12-15 minutes only. Let them cool on a cooling rack or set them aside to cool. They will taste better at room temperature.

COVER THE COOKIES after baking, they will go stale.
