it was a 20 or 60gb version, they discontinued the 20gb at least to my knowledge everywhere but japan.

I'm sooooooooo tempted to just return my bundle back to Costco and re-buy it... I don't care for that "Genji" game that it came with...
but I don't think Costco has change their prices yet after the price drop, so it's kinda pointless... I will only buy from Costco. |

so what is gonna be the difference between the 80g from the now 60g? just more hard drive space? and that its gonna come bundled with a game.

one thing i heard was the 80gb isn't going to have the emotion chip in it. meaning for ps1 and ps2 games its going to do it with software emulation.
and there is also speculation that they'll bring back the rumble when the 80gb model comes out. and as well as the extra 20gb and motorstorm game. |

hmm... i can understand that sony would take out the emotion chip cause not many people actually play ps2 games on their ps3, but thats because for one thing, there is no rumble so the game might not play the same. and there is no controller ports for the GH guitar or DDR.. etc.
i really hope sony brings back the rumble and all i would need is to buy new controllers for my 60gb. and the new 80gb version, personally i dont see why anyone would get it. the 20 and 60gb at launch had somewhat enough differences to justify the extra $100. but with the 80 at least confirmed you get motorstorm an extra 20gb of space and no ps2 emotion chip. hardly worth the extra $100 imo. |

What's more, this latest rumor appears to be based on more than just idle speculation, coming instead from Capcom's Capcom Chief Financial Officer Kazuhiko Abe, who told Reuters that the price "is likely to be cut again towards the end of the year," adding that he expects the PS3's installed base to "grow gradually." While there's no indication of just how big a price cut it'd be, any further drop would certainly put a crimp in Microsoft's rumored plans for a significant price cut of its own, though we doubt too many other people will be complaining. Sony must really be hurtin to be doing this. |

Reeves was speaking at an E3 event to announce the introduction of a new PS3 bundle in Europe. When asked about possible criticisms over whether SCEE should have given consumers the option to pay a lower price, as SCEA has done, he replied, "Well, they're not really are they, because what the US are offering from the 1st of August is a USD 599 version with one game. "All they're doing is taking their stock in trade that they've got at the moment of the 60GB model, marking the price down and it will all be gone by the end of July." When asked to clarify if this will mean the end of the 60GB model, Reeves answered, "In America, yes." SCEA announced a USD 100 price cut for PlayStation 3 earlier this week. A new 80GB model will come bundled with a copy of Motorstorm and will retail for USD 599. |

Good job Sony.
The fact that they are already doing away with another bundle and it hasn't even been a year since it's launch, just goes to show that the PS3 launch and marketing has been one of their biggest blunders to date IMO. |
