I know I'll eventually get the PS3, but NOT the week of release... cause around that same week... a bunch of 360 games are being released... and by the time I buy them all I'll probably be strap for $$$
some of the games I want, of the top of my head are:
Gears Of War
Call Of Duty 3
Rainbow Six: Vegas
...those 3 alone is gonna keep me busy for a while...

Funny how his reply starts with fanboys suck, yet by reading his replies it's obvious he's a 360 fanboy
But I agree, another delay would hurt Sony very much. They'll have a small initial release, however, they'll be on the ball very quickly. It's funny how the 360 fans forget the chaos that the 360 release caused b/c of a mis-handled launch. Sony is not stupid, and they did not get to where they are by following the mistakes of others. Their launch will be crazy, just like any new hyped up launch has been for a system, and always will be... but they know what they're doing, and they will make sure to avoid the problems MS had with their 360. Should be a sweet holiday season! I for one will be waiting until late winter/early spring to get my PS3. Let the dust settle before jumping into the frey...

I had to wait a few weeks for my 360. Sat outside best buy with 30 other people 3 weeks after launch. I'm pretty partial to Playstation, not as a fanboy, but its more of what i'm used to. And i'm too lazy to change styles. I really can only play sports games and racers with a Playstation controller. So my x1 and x360 were basically just for shooters (but the shooters do make it worth it). SO does anyone have any idea of when we'll see preorders for the ps3

I think the price drop in Japan is because they really fear losing market share to the Wii...
GameSpot was invited to Sony's headquarters for an exclusive chat with Kaz Hirai, Sony Computer Entertainment America's garrulous president and CEO. There, he outlined Sony's preparations for the PS3's North American launch on November 17.
After reannouncing that the addition of HDMI high-definition video to the 20GB PS3 would be worldwide, Hirai delivered some not-so-welcome news. The Japanese price drop of the lower-end console--which knocked it to just 49,980 yen--won't be extended to North America, where the 20GB PS3 costs $499 and the 60GB PS3 costs $599.
-------------
Hirai also reiterated that Sony "is expecting" to have 400,000 PS3s in the North American market for the console's "launch time period." As for resupplying US retailers, Hirai said, "We'd like to manufacture and ship out of factories upwards of 1 million units [for North America] by the end of the calendar year." Worldwide, Sony has said it plans on manufacturing 2 to 2.4 million units, with the remainder going to Japan. (The console will not go on sale in Europe until March 2007.)
However, the executive quickly qualified his statement by saying that not every PS3 made will make it to America by the time the ball drops in Times Square. "Not all of it will be on retailer shelves; some of it will be on a boat or a plane on its way, which will make it into retailers' shelves in the New Year," he said. To prevent shortages, Sony is planning to "ramp up production as quickly as possible" and ship many PS3s via air freight.
Hirai also confirmed that, per the "overwhelming" request of retailers, the "bulk" of PS3s being shipped to North America would be of the 60GB variety. "Retailers think the initial consumers who buy the PlayStation 3 want to get it out of the box and onto the online environment as quickly as possible," he said. "That means they'll have a lot of fun downloading various content, so the bigger hard drive and the wireless networking lends itself to getting online very quickly."

The Tokyo Game Show was the event that gaming fans had been waiting for: a chance, at last, to play the much-hyped — and much delayed — PlayStation 3.
For Sony, it was a chance, after a series of embarrassing mistakes, to prove that PlayStation still deserves to dominate the video games market. What the machine actually delivered was a dazzling array of graphics. The dozen games on show yesterday have reached such sophistication that eyelashes, blades of grass and droplets of water can be animated individually.
But fans and analysts were united in the view that the PS3, despite the superiority of its technology, has failed to demonstrate its “wow” factor.
It will be an expensive, complicated machine, and must make early gains before Christmas to win over the Japanese market, where it will be sold for 50,000 yen (Ł226). Britain will not get any PS3s until March.
Fans criticised a lack of innovation. The controller was almost exactly the same as the one that came with the original PlayStation and PS2. It also relies heavily on recycled hits. The games set to be released with the machine bear tell-tale “more of the same” titles such as Everybody’s Golf 5, Virtual Fighter 5 and Ridge Racer 7.
As a result, industry observers have tipped Nintendo as the likely victor in the console war.

Hey I agree is300eater.. the picture shows some terrible polygons and rough edges. It's a model designed to show us what's going on at Polyphony (and make the fanboys lol). It serves 2 purposes - 1) dashboards are in the game and 2) Ferrari is in the game. The final edition will naturally look much more refined and polished. Look at the HD replay video again - that will give you an indication of how the dash will look :P

Its hard to be a sony fanboy when they keep doin this crap. They have been more and more losing my respect as a console producer (or lack there of). Im not a fan boy of any one console. I have always had a xbox and a ps(1-2). I like both for different reasons. But the PS3 maybe out of my reach unless the price drops.
