If Nintendo can do it, Sony can too: the company just announced the PlayStation Classic, a small retro console that comes bundled with a range of the original console’s best/most popular games (including Final Fantasy VII). It’ll be out on December 3 in the US, Canada, Europe, Japan and Australia, and includes games like Final Fantasy VII, Jumping Flash, Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3, and Wild Arms. There’ll be 20 bundled titles in total, but those five are the only ones announced at the moment. Annoyingly, like the SNES Classic, the PlayStation Classic won’t include an AC adaptor, with the only power option being a bundled USB cable. Not to mention, a lot of PS1 titles are available on the PS3, and I assume PS4.

Pretty sure the nes classic came with a usb/AC adapter. I never liked the og PS. So this is a pass anyway. And WAY overpriced. |
Pretty sure you can grab a used PS3, install a homebrew on it and download whatever Ps1/2/3 ROMs you want

I don't see this working out so well for Sony. They don't have the nostalgia-obsessed fanbase that Nintendo does.

I grew up on this, soldered a mod chip... And had over 100 copied games. Lots of pirating during this gen, which made it awesome for the community to share games over the internet. 56k sucked for downloading 700mb tho :rofl: The PS logo and start up sound is nostalgic! Wouldn't buy tho.... |

Idk about this.. the Nintendo version worked because the games havent been easily available/accessible except through a physical copy or an emulator. Sony has already ported most of the games worth playing making them buyable through the PS store for PS3/4

Fighting Force was fun. Gran Turismo sounds good but since I already have a PS4, I'd rather play the newest one.

FUnny how they rejected a lot of great games that actually sold really well on Playstation back in the day. MediEvil should have been an easy addition. I also remember Soul Reaver being popular. Rightfully so since it was fun :)

Agreed. I’ll wait until they’re in the bargain bin. then again they’ve been hacked to run at 60fps and run games off a USB drive. but then I also saw that people are able to use the Amazon FireTV 4k stick to play PS games :ponder: |
