Figured I would make this year's as well for the three people who care.

Analog controls are in, and RTTS has been tweaked and the ridiculous manager goals are gone.

Free 30 days of MLB.TV with preorder, obviously that deal is gone now.

Arrived yesterday, decided to load it up and get through the fucking long as shit install/update process, because I'd rather not waste 20 minutes tonight.

Graphics looked nice, rosters need some work. That's about all I looked at.

yeah im probably gonna pick this up today and make my weekend nice. I didnt really like the analog controls. I played the demo and immediately took them off for all settings except pitching. There are subtle animations that make the game stand out. Ive bought them all so why stop now? LETS GO METS...lol

A mini review.

My main focus with this is RTTS, so let's start with that. The graphics (presentation) is a bit more polished than last year, so that's nice. The rosters right out of the box were pretty close, but also had a couple of glaring errors, like players who made their debut two years ago nowhere to be found.

The manager decisions are advertised to be better/gone, but in truth not a whole lot has changed. You are really only asked in an at-bat to make it a good at-bat, not to get on base or drive the run in. You are asked at times to either hit and run, steal, etc, but not much else in-game. For some completely stupid reason though, you're asked to do things like steal a base or take a base in a hit and run and penalized for it when you should have no business attempting it. First AB, I get a hit and am then asked to go on a H&R. The batter whiffs, and I'm thrown out by ten feet. After the game, my 'green light' is taken away and doesn't come back for three months.

Baserunning seems a little bit better, but I haven't gotten enough speed XP to really be attempting steals. Hopefully that will be soon. Fielding is a bit daft, as at least half the time you go in the wrong direction. Perhaps that will improve as XP increases, but it was good out of the gate last year. Throwing with the analog controls is pretty intuitive except for hitting the cutoff man.

Batting with the analog stick is going to be pretty annoying, so that got switched off right away. Doing it in Madden or Tiger for stationary balls is one thing, on a 90mph cutter, it's quite another. I'm not a pitcher, so I can't speak to that portion.

I enjoy playing it, but hope it gets a bit better as I progress.

I played a couple of exhibition games and a few practice modes and found them adequate.

I will say this - it truly is a lot easier to get XP in this year's version, which I'm very thankful for. I did buy a couple 1k point packages, but wouldn't be that far behind if I hadn't.

I'm in July of my first year and I'm a starter at AAA (LF), and there were six players at that position when I made my character.

Load times are a bit slower, or at least give the appearance so. I have not tried the Challenge of the Week so far.

Haven't played much lately do to work and kid commitments, but I got promoted to the bigs as a utility player and it's really stunted my growth and accumulation of XP. I'm hitting over .400 with six HR in 50 ABs, but I've gone through two advancement periods and I haven't been given more playing time yet.
