Does the activiation scheme only allow you to run it on a single machine or can you legitimately run it on a desktop and a laptop? I didn't see this anywhere on the official site. Well... at least the pages I could get to.

What I've read is that you can install it up to three times.
I don't think it cares at all if the first is a PC and the second is your laptop.

After the third install (even after an uninstall) you have to call EA to get it
reactivated. I don't see this as being such a huge deal. Unless EA is going
to be draconian regarding reactivations, or the game has install issues and
you burn through them like crazy.

I'll admit this game is pretty addictive. I'm still on my first world and I just hit tribal stage.

I kinda like the dude I created, too.

I'm curious about the whole online thing...as I'm playing the game...am I encountering creatures others have created?

mmm, I might have gotten ahead of myself...once you hit the tribal stage you stop being an individual and have to do group crap...im sure it gets more in to that from here on...Im not a fan of that type of play, but we'll see...the controls just got really complex too...the in game directions arent much help.

Yeah, it's totally random from the spore database. If you find something offensive you can 'X' it and it'll stop appearing, until Maxis clears it (or something)

I would urge you all to boycott games that have such severe DRM as Starforce or SecureROM, but it'll probably start a shitstorm here.

As for me, EA will never get a single red cent from me as long as they use third-party DRM.

Read up on some of the horror stories of SecureROM, which is what Spore has.

Okay, hmm, I took a look at it, and Securerom definitely looks out of control.
Apparently EA used to be a real pain in the ass when it came to giving out activations for Mass Effect.

I was really excited to play it, and did play it for about 2 days. I found myself saying "wow, that was different" or "thats kinda cool" but once I got to Tribal stage I kinda quit. Its been sitting there for a couple weeks, and I really dont have any desire to go back to it

I guess what I'm trying to say is, it sucks.

Don't give up on it just yet...I kinda felt the same about the tribal stage, then I played it a little more and sure enough it got addicting.

FYI regarding the DRM. It doesn't actually seem to be that draconian.

on a joystiq poll, the Tribal part was the least liked part of the game, so yeah, maybe just grind through it.

OK, now its my turn to say FUCK EA's DRM shite.

You can NOT unregister the game...

I just sold the game on amazon...so what did I have to do...make the seller a generic gmail account...and then a generic spore account. Swap all that info into what was my account, and then write a little note about all that crap.

What do other people who sold this game do? Just sell it and say F the buyer if it wont register?

Why can you unregister a $2k adobe sweet from a computer but not a stupid $50 video game?

Its really bad business. I have half a mind to walk across the street, bang on EA's door, and punch them in the face...
