Horizon is open-world rather than traditional race tracks. Horizon 4 takes places in Great Britain. 5 will take place in Mexico.

I actually enjoy Horizon more.

Horizon has typically been set up in a fake "world" based on a specific area... 4 was in Great Britain, 3 was in Australia. The world is set up around a massive racing event where you compete to work your way up their leaderboard. Between races you free roam the world. You can race other players driving around or race AI in "illegal" races. Then you can show up to official races as well. You drive back to your garage or the center of the event to modify your cars.

Motorsports is more like Grand Turismo where you pick a track or event, pick your car, race, done, pick new track.

Motorsports is a more traditional racing game... horizon attempts to turn it into a "story".

I've found Horizon just more immersive with buying cars to fill your garage. Tuning them for different types of races. And some decent DJ commentary that ties it all together while they talk about the races and events between songs.

Ive been contemplating buying a PC instead of one of the next gen consoles. Problem is on a scale of 1-10 my PC knowledge is -10000. I know literally nothing. Ive owed consoles my whole life and never even thought about getting a PC, but now with every game being cross platform PC might be the way to go

I guess before I ask for help is it even worth buying a PC with a budget of $500-$1000. FB marketplace seems to have a bunch of them but I have no idea what Im looking at. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...ry=gaming%20pc

LOL, I was getting emails on this card, but I was confused and thought it was just for the 6600XT.

AMD RX 6600 announced. $329

Again... good luck getting one.

Man. Nvidia is having a contest in Instagram to win a custom matrix themed backplate and a RTX3080Ti.

I just want the backplate. Looks so cool.

I like that lower plate... the one that is either a PSU shroud or its sitting on a PSU shroud. Thats awesome. Fills the space under a GPU really nicely.

if I understand you right, that thing is a GPU support bracket. Helps prevent sag on heavy cards.

I’m guessing nvidia got the matrix licensing and worked with V1 tech to make that backplate and support bracket.

No listed MSRP price but probably around $999.
The EVGA 12GB 3080 models start at $1249.99

don’t quite think an extra 2GB of VRAM is worth the ~$300 over the 10GB 3080 (assuming you can even get it MSRP for $699 or the 12GB model for ~$999)

Wtf.. the EVGA 3080 Ti XC3 Gaming starts at $1209.99

id rather save the $50 and get a better card.

So it’s like Quake RTX?

pretty cool, but I honestly can’t tell what’s the difference between what’s ray traced and what is just modern day lighting effects

Let the debate begin...

Nvidia says the future of gaming is ray tracing and real-time rendering like they showed off in their RacerX demo, AMD is still mostly focused on the classic game rendering and doesn't use hardly any AI magic. AMD is begrudgingly adding features like ray tracing and FSR to compete with RTX and DLSS but it hasn't seemed like a huge focus for them. NVidia has been allin on AI for a while now, it's a huge money maker and seems to be driving the business now. It's like they're developing AI chips and using them to run games in the best AI way possible, where before you'd run AI on a game card because if was the best chip readily available. It's like the cart is now driving the horse. Someone should make a thread about AI, this shit is starting to take over...

i'm very interested to see what AMD has to offer, are they going to apply the chiplet design to GPUs so they could make a chiplet GPU with 3D V Cache and deliver monster performance gains in classic game rendering? Will AMD follow Nvidia into the AI rabbit hole because they think they have to if they want to stay competitive or will they decide that they're so far behind in AI that they can't catch up and let Nvidia dominate that market segment, and force developers to choose between classical game rendering or RTX, DLSS, and real-time rendering?

Since nvidia won't even work with their board partners I don't see them embracing AMD's open source DLSS competitor, which isn't technically as good.

Either way I'm probably getting an Nvidia GPU but def want to see how AMD responds

Anyways zero plans to upgrade from my 10GB founders edition 3080.
Although it is nice to see that the 4090 is able to rasterize 4K above 120fps.

Has anyone played with these streaming gaming services? My Samsung Neo QLED now supports a few like Xbox GamePass, and Nvidia Geforce Now and it has a couple free to play games like Fortnite and Destiny 2 (which I used to play a lot of). I'm trying it out for free right now, I plugged in my Scuf controller into a USB port on my TV and it worked, sort of.

As I type this I'm currently waiting in queue for a server to become available so I'm not sure if the buttons are mapped properly. If these are good I may use this a lot. 4k gaming at up to 120FPS on my mini LED 65in TV, ok I'm interested. Let's see how good it is.

Destiny 2 will be a great test for me

Well the wired Scuf Vantage 2 isn't working well with GeForce Now, it's unplayable. I had the same issues on the Xbox app, buttons are unassigned or assigned incorrectly and I couldn't find an easy way to reassign. I'll try another controller someday. But I did get a Destiny 2 to load and was able to shoot some aliens with a keyboard and mouse connected to the TV but wasn't teneable since I had to sit right in front of the TV. I'd imagine that Sony or Xbox controllers work a lot better. I've ordered a new PS5 Scuf controller which has wireless so hopefully it will work better, if not it's going back.
