Flight Simulator 2004 - Tips Wanted

Anyone here familiar with this simulator? I just bought it, I find it a blast, but I'm a complete n00b, so maybe a few tips and heads-up would probably help me.

For example, I know I can download scenery and aircrafts from a few dedicated sites, but how do I know if they are realistic and well integrated, compatible, etc. Basically which download is worth it or not?

Thanks.

I played that game when i was in flight school back in high school. Imo, its pretty realistic. I used this site for downloads http://www.avsim.com/. I like using meljets boeing planes, and if your really into it, you can go out and buy a retail addon for a specific plane. O and get a joystick and throttle control for a more realistic experience.

If you think your really good, mess with the weather settings to max wind on everything and server turbulence at low altitude, and try to land a 747 manually.

Teehee, I'll save that for later if you don't mind..

I've registered on avsim already, but it looks as if not all downloads are all that great.
