But in other shooters like counter strike, socom, and James Bond, i own all those bitches....
i love the controllers for halo, small one is the best, imo

agreed. Socom for PS2 rocks as a FPS as well, the online gameplay is very cool.

Sorry, but NFL Fever wasn't that great... which is why they took a year off. It wasn't bad... but no where near ESPN, nevermind Madden.

Anyway.... I picked up ESPN last night. Holy crap that game is awesome. They really tightened up the gameplay which was my biggest gripe from last year... and what a difference. I'm still a Madden fan no doubt... but the better gameplay combined with all of the new features definitely makes this a game I'll be playing. We may even convert our league from Madden to ESPN... especially since ESPN saves all of your stats and records and does the league website for you....

VIP is aweseome. I'm going to play one of my friends online tonight, then we're going to see how the VIP works offline for practicing.

I'll tell ya... they have some really, really cool features in this years game. Combined with the tighter gameplay and unreal graphics... this one could give Madden a run for it's money!!

For those that argue that they're selling it for $20 because the game is crap.....

it's called penetration pricing, and the purpose is to grab market share. The cause, which is evident early in this thread, is people's perceptions of the product based on prior experience. It's a great strategy, and it will work as long is the game truly is as good or better than Madden.

I sill haven't played it, I've been tied up with NCAA Football 2005.

Just got back from Target with ESPN for $15.88!! Also no tax in MT so a hella good deal. It has been a while since Ive bought a football game (usually only buy racing games) but for less than $16 I couldnt resist. OMG, this game is so much better than I imagined it would be. I mainly picked it up because I have been wanting a new game (of any kind really) until the next wave of racing games hit in a month or so, but man I wasnt expecting it to be this good. Madden may still top it this year, but I wont be paying for it... oh, and the VIP is pretty sweet so far, I need to get a couple friends to buy it so I can really see how well it works.

My boy bought the game and I have to admit its better than last years Madden hands down and this is coming from a Madden fanboy. The presentation of this game is light years beyond Madden. I just don't see the new Madden being able to top this game especially since it has the same engine as last years game.

Madden needs to really do some overhauling since it's basically the same thing every year. That's what's great about ESPN... they're not afraid to take chances and include cool features.

Anyway, played ESPN online for the first time this weekend. Holy crap it was awesome. Not only was it smooth as butter.... but all of the presentation remains. Replays, challenges, stat overlays, half-time and post-game shows, etc.... everything remains in tact. It feels like you're playing offline against the computer since they don't trim anything out. Very cool!!

i own the early maddens and i own madden 2002-2004 and every year there are new additions which make the game so much better, this year will probably be better then last year and every year the same thing

True... feature wise they do add little things.... but it still always feels very similar to the previous years... whereas this years ESPN blows away last years ESPN. I can't remember a Madden that blew away a previous version. Don't get me wrong.. I'm more of a Madden fan... but they need to step the features from year to year to match what ESPN is doing (I mean ESPN hosts your online league, keeps stats and generates the website for you. Can't beat that.)

Madden is like the 2002 TL, basically the same as the 2001 with some noticable changes.

ESPN is like the 2004 TL... total redesign from 2003.

I enjoy your analogy but ESPN has had to do that because Madden sales kill them every year. They are basically licking between customers toes to get them to switch. And the ESPN game was so bad that they had to completely redesign it. And the reason why madden has just certainc hanges every year is because their product is so amazing that all they do is take fan feedback and change minor things in order no to ruin a game already so close to perfect

there are a couple thigns that annoy me about espn 2k5...

ghetto talk - AWWWWWWWW YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH YOU GOT 300 YARDS RUSHING

WOOOO WOOOOOO YOU COMPLETED 5 PASSES IN A ROW

wtf is that shit. anyone else notice this stuff across the bottom of the screen. basically they copied every aspect of Madden, but made it ghetto. your 'crib' and all that stuff...

and this is small...but for some reason it really annoys me that the second you step out of bounds the player stops instantly and turns around... very unnatural looking. same in the end zone.

and what the hell is this celebrity challenge nonsense? it keeps popping up messages that i have a phone call, so I go to my 'crib' and carmen electra is calling me to challenge me to a game against her 'electra shock' team

that lasted about 2 minutes...every 15 seconds a picture of carmen electra pops up on the screen and comments on her plays. "I'm gonna switch it up on you...hehehe" :wtf:

the gameplay is good, and the overlays are great...and the online features are fantastic (awkward to use I think though)...but they sure added in a bunch of worthless and annoying crap.

I haven't noticed most of that stuff... but I'll give you that the announcers are annoying. Hopefully they'll get some real names in there next year. But the out of bounds for example.... Most of the time I go way out of bounds... and I've even been tackled out of bounds... similar to Madden.

As for the Celebrity Challenge... it's an OK idea.... but I can do w/o it. It's just another little thing to add reply value... but I'll stick to my franchise. The crib itself is OK. More fun then Madden cards at least.

I'm a big Madden fan too... so I hope they deliver this year.
