Dual Systems + One Monitor = ???

Erm.
Wasn't sure if this was the best place to post this, but thought I'd give it a try.

Recently, I've thought about getting a computer strictly for gaming and such.
I wanted to know how to set up, so that I have my Apple lappy, and a computer tower hooked up to the same external monitor (preferably through DVI connection).

Via some type of switchbox?

Can Anybody recommend a good one? I have a cheap 4 way vga/usb Trend net right now installed behind my desk. About once a month it stops responding to the switch computers command and I have to Power everything connected to it off or crawl back there and unplug everything to get it to reset. The Rest of the time it randomly sends bad power signals to my Linux box over usb and freaks out when I'm using a virtual machine.

Interesting.
I might see if I can find one with a DVI.

EDIT: Nvm. It first took me to one with VGA....now it's DVI.

What brand and model is your monitor? Both my HP and Samsungs have vga and DVI connections. I keep my desktop hooked up via DVI and I hook up my laptop via VGA. When I want to swtich, I just hit the analog/digital button and it swtiches. Not ideal, but its an easy, trouble free solution.

Yeah, many monitors have dual inputs, so it's easy.
I have my PC and Xbox hooked up to the same monitor.

What is also fun is, my PC is dual monitor too.

the only problem with that is that you would need a separate keyboard and mouse per computer or switch them over every time you want to switch computers.

but i guess since one is a laptop its not so bad.
