CD-R/DVD-R to be replaced by USB Flash memory?

You can get a 8 gig USB flash memory stick now for $84 Cdn. Looks like CD-R/DVD-R are stone age.

And what if I wanted to give someboby info. ie, music, software etc..... Should I spend $84 on a USB key or 16 cents on a DVD?

^ yes, for that you'll need to burn. But for transferring data/photo/etc ...USB is way to go.

i also use DVDs for long term storage of stuff ill probably never use again but want to keep around

I would like to see a car stereo to have a USB plug. So, I can plug my memory stick to the stereo to play music.
