I will setup mine this week and hopefully you are on there.

BTW, Madden 07 is the worst Madden game ever developed

I'd be curious why as well. If you were talking Madden 07 for the 360, I may understand, but the PS2 version builds on the older versions of Madden and is still a very solid game.

I agree that the PS2 version > the 360 version, but this years incarnation has one major issue that I can't believe EA didn't spend time fixing.

Poor Overall AI

More times than not, the offensive line men get stuck in a pattern of shuffling backwards and turning towards the the rusher, but not actually engaging contact with the d-lineman. Essentially, the player shuffles backwards, while staring at the rushing defense man and the QB gets sacked.

In addition, the corner backs get burned all too easily, especially against a receiver with a better than average speed rating. All I need to do is lob the ball down and my receiver is at least 5 steps ahead of the DB.

It may seem like small gripes, but compared to the AI of previous Madden's (I'm using Madden 2001 as my reference point [Eddie George on the cover]), 2007 was a poor outing in terms of AI mechanics. Presentation, it is the best I have seen on the PS2, or Xbox, but the game just seemed rushed.

Again,

EDIT: Just for shits and giggles, ESPN NFL 2K5 from 2K Sports was better than any other Madden I have played on the PS2

i'll also say madden 07 PS2 > PS3 for some reason. Of course the graphics are better in PS3, but the overall game setup and play seemed to be better on PS2

Weird. What level difficulty are you playing on? EA specifically tweaked defensive AI for 2006 and 2007 on the PS2 and XBOX. Plus, with all of the custom hot routes you can set on defense, I can honestly say I've never had a real big complaint with the DB AI...

I don't know why... but EA Sports decided to release a light version of Madden 2007 for the PS3 and X360. You would think the game would be the same as the PS2 and XBOX version, just with better graphics... but nope... the PS3 and 360 version (which are basically the same) are missing a TON of features and a TON of gameplay items. Very odd.

They did get ripped pretty bad about it both from mags and consumers, so hopefully they'll step it up next year on the next-gen systems. Plus, with 2k Sports announcing a football game for the next-gen consoles, they may be forced to step it up b/c now there will be some competition.

I am addicted to this online play.

Some young punks really like to talk shit during the match. It's great.

I forget which, but I believe it's the second highest.

The only thing I have notice is that the when playing online, its alot easier to bait the Safeties on a play action pass than normally.

Then I can kind of see your gripe. Try the All-Madden (highest) level. Whole new game

probably because your playing on rookie, pro or all-pro. you should be playing on those levels ONLY if you want to destroy the computer or if you're just beginning to learn the game. if you play on all-madden, the AI is noticeably harder.

but i have noticed that the offensive linemen do that in madden games sometimes. buts thats just like in a real football game. sometimes they get beat and let a pass rusher through.

also, for the 1st time this past weekend, i played madden 07 on ps3. horrible play calling layout, horrible button configurations (madden 06 ps2 was the best), and the animations suck. is it just me or are the players really slow after they catch the ball, thus never allowing any yards after catch.

Never played it on the PS3, but had it on the X360... and they were supposed to be pretty close.

On the 360, I had never held an XBOX controller until I got this system late summer as I was always a PlayStation guy... but the button layout on the 360 was pretty much the exact same as it was on the PS2... so I had no complaints about that.

The animation on the 360 was also awesome. Again, not sure about the PS3 version, but the 360 version was very, very realistic. I had both Madden's at one point (PS2 and 360) b/c I used to be in a PS2 league. After I found out the league wasn't happening this year I decided to get rid of it... but I did play it... and going from the 360 version to the PS2 version felt like going from the PS2 to the Sega Genesis. I just could not play it and put it on eBay immediately. Now, I have heard/read that the PS3 version was not quite as good as the 360 version as far as graphics and frame rate... so that could be what you were experiencing.

As for the player speed... on the 360 and PS3 versions they reduced the effect of the speed burst verses the PS2 and XBOX versions of the game to make it more realistic. No longer could you take guys with average speed and use the speed burst to pull away from defenders. Now, a faster defender will track down a receiver or RB. They will also take more aggressive pursuit angles to get to you. The 360 version had some features stripped from it compared to the PS2/XBOX version, but they definitely got some things right... and that was one of them.
