Would be kinda cool if while playing GTA, you drive around in a Civic and bump 'Pistol Grip Pump'....
I actually liked driving the POS cars in the games sometimes. See how far you can get in a police chase in a hoopty. If there was a Caprice I'd put 24s on it and garage that shit.
Going on with what a couple people said already, I missed the sillyness as well as the customization in the old games. If I found a rare car and modified it in San Andreas and someone rear ended me, FOOL WAS DEAD.
or in the older games, forcing people into water. Risky business, using a boat in Vice City and hopping onto other NPCs boats. Tommy Vercetti's reputation preceded him so much that people would rather suicide by drowning than to deal with him face to face
I hope GTA V captures some of that old charm. I don't think I've finished GTA IV on either of my drawn out playthroughs.... that or I don't even care to remember.

After finishing Sleeping Dogs, GTA 5 is going to have to do A LOT more than just updated graphics and more vehicles to be good.
Sleeping Dogs set the highest bar for storyline in sandbox games.

It may be more about the complete destruction of the cars as that seems to be a constant issue for forza and gt. Not to mention driving without a seatbelt and getting thrown through the windshield.

Did anyone else get bored and occasionally play GTA semi-for serious? Stopping at red lights, enjoying the music... walk on the sidewalk for a bit and get into fist fights with hecklers who just insulted you...
Really immature looking back now, but I remember playing VC back in high school with friends. If you saw two guys on a motorcycle (worse, on a scooter) they were goners.

This thread makes me want to get Vice City out, prolly haven't played it in 5 years. Every time I drove by that biker bar I'd crush that fat guy and the two motorcycles...I'm sure I'm not the only one
I haven't played anything since San Andreas, but I don't think anything can top GTA3 for me. I can still drive the deuce and a half around the "loop" on the second island for hours wreaking havoc.

I had tons of fun in VC and SA...fucked around for countless hours. Heck, I played them through countless times just to play the story. But with VI, I just wanted to get it over with; it was beyond boring...I hated everything about that game. I am really hoping V gets back to what the franchise used to be.

The damn red lights held for so long though

since i have discovered saints row the third i dont know if i could ever look at GTA the same again. but they should bring back the TRUE CRIME series i like both of those better than GTA

Give Sleeping Dogs a try, even though the story is way too short for how good it is. It's supposed to be what True Crime Hong Kong was originally set out as before it was shelved.

Just pre-ordered today. If you're one of the first 15 or so, R* is giving away free stuff, so I tried it and they're allowing people to pre-order before the official day, which is Monday. Also, a new trailer is done but they're having issues releasing due to Hurricane Sandy. Can't wait till the new trailer AND the new Game Informer comes out with exclusives.

I have to agree with you guys above, Saints Row is awesome. I didn't really like the gameplay on the 360 for the first game but I picked up the Third on PC and its great.
Sleeping Dogs is next, interesting to see what Rockstar will put out

^Agree, but I'm still leery after IV. Characters seem to be a lot better, though, which was one of my biggest knocks on IV. I'll still be looking for a review that says girlfriends and friends have been eliminated (or 100% optional and not tied to trophies) and lame missions have been significantly reduced. If I want to go bowling with a buddy or play chauffeur, I'll buy The Sims.
