This will take place before MGS4 then right? Maybe even cross into the game where Raiden fights the Gekkos and Vamp? Big Boss may then be in the game as a supporting character because remember, he was alive until the end of MGS4. Probably not though.

I'm inclined to believe that Rising will occur after MGS4.

I'm a little concerned about the game play mechanics for this one, since it appears to focus more on action than stealth.

Think about the title though, "Rising," and how the game mentions that Raiden has been through hell and back and has changed. Even his voice changed a lot too from whiny to more gritty. My bet is that the game will see his transition from the inexperienced MGS2 Raiden into the bad ass MGS4 Raiden. It'll be his "rise" to power.

Maybe. To be honest, I'm more excited about Peacewalker, since it is a direct sequel of Snake Eater, and it has more involvement by Kojima. I'm baffled why Peace Walker isn't coming for PS3.

It can't occur after MGS4, in MGS4 raiden retired from his ninjahood to take care of his son and wife or whatever it was, remember?

Maybe it'll be like a Batman Begins story line for Raiden telling us exactly how he became robot like etc... a lot of time passed since "Sons of Liberty" and "Guns of the Patriots"

I can't wait. Is it the normal Metal Gear Solid? Nope. Is it going to be awesome playing as a cyborg ninja? Hell yeah.

That's .. incredibly gory. Did I just see Raiden rip glowing blue guts out? This will be way different than any Metal Gear series we've played, reminds me of Ninja Gaiden, really. I'm open to change though, so bring that shit!

Raiden slicing that Apache helicopter into pieces in mid air was a bit too much.

If it comes out a year from now, it will be four years since the project was announced.

Lifelong MG fan. As a purist I'm disappoint but I do love the Ninja Gaiden play style.

Life-long MGS fan as well...it is very odd to see the "Team Ninja" flavor in this game. So, I'm guessing the sneaking factor is out?

You forget the sole purpose of a ninja is to stay hidden. And the sole purpose of the MGS series was to stay hidden. Unless you're fighting a boss of course. This, in my mind anyway, is a "natural" transition.

Hated the demo at first since I'm a 80's MG purist but more and more I liked it. Just a different type of game but still great story line. I'll eventually buy it.

Yeah, no sneaking. Walk in and hack away is the idea. Very different...

I had trouble for a long time with the 2 walkers in the demo. I have to hit and run like crazy but I saw on YT how they kill them quick.

I'm still on the fence with this one. I played a bit of the demo and I get a real kick out of the blade mechanics. Have to play it a bit more to see if I should buy it..... I really don't play enough video games to justify buying a new game at full price.

Just wait for the price drop. If you want to game there are always older games that are cheap and great.

Well, the later stages do have sneaking elements. You still always have the option to go in with the katana-swinging...but, you have the option to sneak.

BUT, ultimately, this is not like the prior MGS games whatsoever. The crouching, peak around the corner ability is not in this game.

Still, it is pretty good. I'm enjoying it. Some over-the-top bosses...

Even in regular MGS you had to option to go sneaky sneaky or guns a blazing.

What I did like was that there was even an option to not have even 1 kill. Can you do that with this game?

I still need to open the damn box.

As per my post: no. This game is all about "revenge" and killing. There is no tranquilizer gun for you to use...your only main weapon is a katana. So, yeah. Hack away.

Without the "Solid" in the title, I don't think this game has much to do with the mechanics of the prior releases.

It's more like Ninja Gaiden.

Ok fine.

Should I open the box? Wonder how that plasma lamp that came with it looks like.

Well, I've already said a few times that I like this game quite a bit. The reviews are decent for it too as well.

So, you decide.

There's DLC coming next week for it for free so you guys are lucky. New VR missions. I think a wooden sword that talks with Solid Snake's voice is included.

They should release a patch for MGS2 that makes use of these new blade mechanics. That way Solidus wouldn't be such a frustrating pos.
