Raced my friend's 01 Celica GT-S w/ mods
just got my car a few weeks ago and i met up my friend. He's got an intake/exhaust/pulleys/springs which doesnt bring him up by much but it wasnt much of a race.. my automatic vs his manual and i gave him a bit of a headstart. got up to bout 110 and i let off for a bit too, 2 car lengths ahead, 4 bangers

Gook run I did the same but we were at about 70 or so
he had a 03 celica with some mods me well just stock 01 3.2 (not type s)
we were even for a bit then I took him I had no Idea my car could beat his
(new to racing world) but it felt great I let off at about 120

They are not slow, but they don't live up to their looks.
I've seen a guy run a 14.7 @ 96 mph with just an intake. It sure could take some average CL-S drivers if you ask me.

Sure, if you're a magazine racer.

dunno why everyone doesn't believe 14.7 is possible with the new gts...it has the same ingredients as the itr...high revving, ssooorrtttaaa light weight, aggresive cam profile with peaky power, no torque lol and the itr runs similar times stock...high 14's

Well, I'm not here to lie. If he's lying, then I guess I'm lying too. He has a 2001 GT-S. But I can understand how you guys wouldn't believe it.
I remember there was a thread a few months ago talking about the GT-S and I really didn't know a lot about them. I thought it was just another chick car that looked fast. I didn't even think that they could run below mid 15s.

When I had my Prelude I took out an Auto Celica GT-S and it was slow compared to the Prelude. Or at least it felt like it was. When I came back the sales people came around (3 of them!) and asked what I thought and I said that there was no way I was leaving the Prelude and they were all REALLY mad. Literally talking under their breath and everything. One even had the balls to ask "are you sure?" Speed-wise they may be similar but it didn't feel like it and between the sport shift on the stearing wheel and the crap for space in the cabin....Prelude all the way. Mine screwed past a Celica! (even if it didn't REALLY screw). In any case...the CL whomps a Celica! There is a really riced out one for sale near me in North Andover at a body shop if anyone is looking for one...it has more plastic than any other car out there...

I am comparing the two cars' performance in straight line racing...the two engines have close to the same output and similar in design concept...the only way the itr is a better car is because it has a little bit more power but ALOT better suspension
if the itr can run high 14's why not the gts with a similar design? because it's a celica?
i guess i should have said the gts is similar to the gsr...there are you happy now?

I have owned both cars and ran both cars at the track...........best time for both of them stock? 15.0!!! The GTS is not slow, some people on here are ignorant, my celica put 150fwhp stock and with intake and exhaust I put 168! The car only weighs 2500lbs....that put the GTS stock 16.67 lbs/hp and the CL-s 16.41 lbs/hp
The best time I saw on newcelica.org with intake back when i had one was a 14.4 with a video to prove it. You can check on newcelica.org now and they have even better times....one guy has a 13.7 with intake, DR's and Apexi FC, never seen that with a CL.
O, the GTS obviously isn't up to par with the CL-S's interior, but it will kill it in the twisties and in braking distance.

totally not true again, when the Cl-s hits 4th gear the GTS will leave it in the dust, well until the GTS hits around 135, then its drag limited.
