Thumbs up A fun night in D.C.

There is a great racing spot right outside of Washington D.C. On a good night you will get a good mix of everything, imports, domestics, and even a few bikes will show up.

On way to the spot, I see a new Volkswagen GTI so I decided to try him. I pulled besided him and tried to get him bite. He did we went from about 30 mph by the time I hit 90 mph, I had him by about 1 1/2 car lengths. They are a little quicker than I expected.

Once, I pulled into the parking lot I see a mean looking Camaro that i just had to race. After I talked him into a run, he tells me its a automatic 1996 Camaro Z28. It has a intake and exhaust, aswell as some nitto drag radials. I run him anyway. I ran from a stoplight. Off the line he pulled a instant car length after that gap stayed the same. It would have been a close race, if he didnt have those drag radials.

I finally got a chance to race my friends 2004 Dodge SRT-4. He is slightly modded. We went once from a stoplight. Off the line a pulled alittle, he ran me down and put about 1/2 car length on me. He said he got no traction first and just started to hook up half way though second gear, thanks to his worn out tires. We decided to race from a roll. The first race was from about 25 mph and we let off around 90 mph. He beat me by 2 car lengths. My last run off the night we raced from a 50mph roll. We stayed even in second gear, then he began to pull on me. By 130 mph, he had about 3 car lengths on me. I did alot better than I thought I would.

A pretty good night of racing !!!!

I have noted a multitude of postings for cold air intakes. They are kind of pricey. I believe you can get the same result by removing the intake resonator and drop in a K&N air filter. It took me an hour to do and I gained a tenth (14.8 to 14.7) in the Qtr.

How do you remove the intake resonator??? I used to have a K&N filter, but dirt was getting around it. It messed up my Idle Air Control Valve.
