CL-S (I/H/E) Vs. EVO VIII (I/BOV/18 inch Volks)

I read the other post about the CL with S/C that beat the EVO so i was kinda scared to post because some people think its BS... But fuck it, Im gonna post anyways.
My cousin has an EVO VIII and we never raced because we thought it was ovbious he was gonna beat me. Well his older brother was driving that day and we decided to run on the freeway.
We did 3 runs, all of them from 50 mph (I chose the starting speed :P ). First run I inched away in second and by the end of 3rd i had half a car on him. Gateshifted at 7200 to forth and landed right b4 vtec range, I pulled a full car by 110-115 mph.
Second run he missed a gear. Third run had similar results but we kept at it till 125 and surprisingly i pulled 2 cars on him.
The Evo had 2 people including driver (160-180 lbs) and I was alone (140 lbs). Beating an Evo was hard to believe for me too after it happened, so I understand if someone calls my story BS hehehe. I was just sharing my experience...

well i'll say it cuz im sure others will say it but im sure the evo driver wasn't exactly the best.

having 2 people in the evo helped u, also the fact that it was a rolling start from 50mph def helped u out bigtime. it is true that evo/sti are designed to have incredible launches and if you take that advantage away from them its a more level playing field.

anyhow, good runs

Yeah, like I said it was his brother's car... He still drives it around a lot and is used to driving manual transmissions.

do you know what gear he was running in at 50 mph? cos if he started in 3rd, i understand the results. but if he started in 2nd and got whupped, i would be like :wtf: turbo lag and vtec would get the best of 'em.

Coulda been scared to shift into second at such a high rpm probably and plus the car isn't his either so to be on the safe side he put it into third instead.

Nice run........most people dont realize that Evo's arent good to top end. You can get em on the highway pretty easily. I have 2 friends with Evo's. They are pretty even with S2K's on the freeway's. But from the dig, Evo kills em.

My friend's Evo has your usual bolt ons, and raised boost. The S2K only had exhaust.

You guys are crazy,........I'll give you 03 Evos are slower than the 06,....but he had a 3300lb car with 500lbs of people in it, while you have a 3500lb car w/ 1 person at 140lbs. Put those 2 other people in your car and see what happens.

He said that the EVO had two people in it (160-180lbs each) including the driver, so it was around 3300+360 = 3660lbs. vs 3500+140 = 3640lbs.

Yeah, but if he took the 180lb. extra passenger, I'm sure it would have been the opposite story.

I was dead even with an STi from a 10mph roll in my mustang, so yeah without their launch they arent that fast.

And 50mph in an 03 Evo is like 6k rpm and redline is 7k, so no 2nd gear would probably not be ideal since it would run out so fast. The CL-S6 has a similar 2nd gear, and at 50mph I would go into 3rd also. 3rd at 50mph would be 4300rpm in the Evo, which is still within full boost.

He can drive it, its not like he drove it for the first time. They switch cars often and he races a lot of cars with it. I dont understand why its so hard to believe. Did you ever race one?

lotta EVO d*ck suckin goin on lately....an VIII is not that fast, sorry. Headers and a roll will give the edge to the CL its been done many times before. The nay-sayers need to experience it for themselves.

"But add a boost controller, full exhaust, a larger intercooler....." yeah well thats not what were talkin about here, is it?

Like this for instance a Hatch Civic with a K20 swap (RSX motor) vs. EVO at 22 PSI

EVO's arn't fast... I used to smoke'em while NA and devastate them while turbocharged! Of course there ARE fast EVO's out there but anything short of 20+psi and larger turbo's are slow!
