camaro Z28
Ok, I wasn't driving my CL-S. I was in my '72 Corvette. I never race either of my cars but today I felt like having a little fun and this brand new Camaro pulled up next to me at a stop light. Well, I thought he'd beat me, what with fuel injection and all that stuff those cars should be pretty fast. 5.7L V8 and such and man was it ever fast!!! We both balled our tires the first 10 yds or so but his first and second gears are really fast. when I hit 3rd I started to climb back in the race a little bit because that's where my car performs really well but by then it was pretty much over. I was happy with the way my 'vette performed but now it's back to the drawing board to see where I can get a few more horsepower.
Oh yeah, I really sucked getting off the line!! Guess that takes a lot of practice
Also forgot to mention, my 'vette is a small block 350 w/ a 4sp manual tranny. I had the motor rebuilt and was told the engine would pull about 375HP at the flywheel when finished. I added some hooker headers so I'd hope I was getting at least 300HP at the wheels.
Sorry this wasn't a CL-S story but it was kinda fun giving my car a little run. Be wary of the Z28's. They are pretty quick!!!

while there's nothing like the old small block, the new ls1 is impressive. it meets emissions very easily, and is not only very powerful. the 02 is making 350-370 at the crank in the camaro, and will get 28-30mph on the highway. pretty damn impressive.
last fall at the track there was a 71 lt1, wiht a few mods on it, with a four speed, running low 13s at 104 or so. Nice looking and sounding, and of course running car.
i really like the vette, the late 1st gen and early 2nd gen stingrays, the big blocks were awesome. they've stood up well against me anytime i've run with them.
