Thumbs up 2004 Infiniti G35 vs. 2001 Acura CL-S

A friend of mine, who just got his car out the body shop, was looking to get into a little trouble today. He has a bone stock, automatic 2004 Infiniti G35 Coupe. We played around a little before, this was our first time actually racing each other.

We did a quick drag race from a light. Off the line we stayed dead even, and it stayed that way until by about 75 mph. I had a perfect launch, he spun a little in first gear.

Then we decided to hop on the highway. The first raced we lined up at 70 mph, I put my car in 3rd gear and we pulled to around 130 mph. I lost by maybe 2 1/2 car lengths. The next run we lined up at 75 mph. We let off about 120 mph. He had me by maybe 1 car length. The last race we slowed down alittle, so we lined up around 60 mph. This time I used second gear. I stayed pretty much even with him until 4th gear. We let off at 140 mph. He beat me by 1 3/4 car lengths.

After turning around to head home and stopping for gas. We behaved ourselves for a while then he called me and said lets go for a top speed run. How could I refuse. I started about a 1/2 car in front of him, and I hit it a little before him. I topped out at 150 mph he said he saw 155 mph !!!!!! Once we got home, he gave me the ultimate , he did a dounut around my car. Overall, the most fun I have ever had .

Ok, . Well we are going to the drag strip soon. So that will be the best way to determine who is really the fastest.

Who knows if this is correct though. They also say this is a 1996 model.

I'm just asking where is the proof? If it is from experience good for you. If not what is your source?

I can say it is 180 mph...but if I can't prove it kinda worthless.

ok...I've been told that many times. air/fuel cuttoff was 147mph. But also heard of people hitting 150...just wondering. I know probably "the fish was this big" fibs.

The reason why some people get various results are really somewhat simple. First off, a speedometer is not very accurate at higher speeds.
Secondly, tire size and composition can also result in the speedometer showing a higher than actual speed.

The only true way to tell what your speed is would be to use a radar gun or 5th wheel.

That said, there is enough tolerance within any device that could result in some hitting 147, others a bit slower and some a bit faster.

That's my

Just lettin you know, the Goodyear RS-A's suck ASS. They should only be rated a summer tire and aren't to sturdy in rain. Please do not use those tires in the snow since you live in VA.

Also, to go 150mph on a stock CL-S suspension is retarded. The car is like a boat at speeds over 110mph without sways or spring mods.

Yeah, but they are a high performance tire with a decent tread wear rating. I go to school in the Tide Water Region of Virginia, where its know to rain for days on end. Also, since Norfolk is under sea level, I have had a lot of expierence with drivng in wet weather conditions. I have not have any problems hydroplaning. Overall, I think that they are a excellent tire. Thanks, I will stay away from snow driving.

I know that driving on public roads at those speeds, is not the safest nor smartest thing to do. But, I have lots of car control as well as countless expierence at 110+ mph. For my tatses, the car handles very well at those speeds .

147 is the max, and going that fast on stock suspension = death on these boats...

I've almost gotten arrested for racing. It wasnt BS, I was actually racing. Those tickets hurt
