2001 CL-S vs. 2000 Mustang GT

This happened about a year ago. My girlfriend and I were leaving from a Rally's/Checker's drive though. It was about midnight and I saw a silver GT a few cars in front of me, so i tried to get next to him. Once I pulled along side, I saw a driver about my age so I jumping next to him. When he saw me, we gave each other that look and since we were on a pretty straight four lane road we both decided to go at it. The first race we started around 45 mph and we let off around 100 mph. He beat me by a 1/2 car length. Round two we started around 55 mph. We pulled almost dead even. It was so close I cant call it a win or lose. I know it's rare in the racing world, but it was a tie. The third race we were rolling at almost 70 mph when we jumped on it. It was very close again, however this time I got him by a 1/4 car length by 110 mph. Once we slowed we gave each the
and I turned to head home. I glad that it was as close as it was since my girlfriend was in the car. I was also, kind of suprised that I could stay next to a V-8.

Its very possible to hang with a Mustang GT during that year. It is from a dig where they gain their advantage but from a roll its fairly even. Since they have to shift around 5.5K RPMS and you can ride yours all the way up to 7K, thats where we gain ground.

Good race and be safe.

Def possible, esp if his was an automatic also. If he had a 5 speed he probably would have walked ya pretty good.

I love picking on 99-04 GT's with my 6 speed. Of course they are faster from a stop, but from 2nd gear on I can pull or at least keep even.

I even beat a couple at the drag strip with the 17's on, they couldnt believe I was 95% stock.
