I honestly have more fun with the Taco then I do the CLS. I have not been to the track with the Tacoma but dynolicous for the I-phone says it does 14.13. You can take that for whats its worth. I personnaly don't think it is quite that fast. But for tossing a vehicle around its a blast.

Before I had the KDW's (not KDW2's) I could smoke the tires into second gear, now its just about a 2 second spin/chirp before they grab. I've got 225/50/16's.

Unfortunatly they closed the only 1/4 mile track in the Memphis area. They were talking about Comp Cams buying it a re opening it! They are local. From what some of the locals are saying you can go to Comp Cams factory here in Memphis and they will custom grind you any cam you want. Have yet to find out for sure. Maybe I'll call them tomorrow. I think some cams would set the 5VZ-FE up just right. Oh and the J32A2 of course. I would really like to take the J32A2 out of the CLS and stick it in the Tacoma! (It won't ever happen) It would be wicked fast. It only weighs 2900LBS!

I doubt a Acura RL would have a exhaust bypass valve (or dump). Like what I think you (Friesm2000) are thinking about. You are thinking of an exhaust dump right?

There are exhausts that have valves just like a throttle body. (so to speak) It just adds a little back pressure, then opens all the way up for a free flowing exhaust. First time I saw it was on a Yamaha FZ1 sport bike 1000cc. Just think of a factory exhaust with a butterfly in it to adjust back pressure. Does not bypass anything, it still routes through the factory exhaust.

Yes (kinda) but the ones he is talking about are just after the Cat. There is no re- routing of gasses, still goes through the entire system. It would not make an audible difference. Well nothing like the Corvette, where as the corvette does it to bypass the mufflers.

For some reason I just thought of "Bannana in the tailpipe". Made me laugh, I have not watched that movie in like 10 years!

My bike has that same valve. I know this probably wont translate the same to our cars, but on my bike it has been dyno proven that you lose power with the valve in.

i think it would work out great for someone wanting a hi flow cat and larger pipe ... to maintain lower rpm back pressure

DAMN, AFTER READING THESE TIMES, I AM HESITANT TO RUN MINE AT THE DESOTO TRACK HERE IN BRADENTON FLORIDA.
I thought for sure that people with bolt ons would be easily in the 13's, especially with headers, guess not though

With good tires and engine mounts and most of the bolt ones you should be able to hit high 13's. No spare tire and 1/4 of gas tank will help too. Good launch is must. I did my launch at 2500-2800rpms and best time I ran was 14.1 and that's with terrible engine mounts.
I'm getting new mounts pretty soon so I will prove that this car is able to hit ~13.8 that's my guesstimate

I'm confident I will hit a high 13 with just bolt-ons. I think the majority of CL owners don't know how to launch these cars because all I see in youtube videos is just constant wheelspin

It does take some getting used to launching the car perfectly. Ive been able to get a few good launches but I cant get much consistency out of it.

Actually I remember when we were leaving dave&busters(sp? we don't have it in NJ) parking lot you punched really good I'm sure if I tried I wouldn't be able to keep up with my current mounts. It looked more like rwd launch that fwd. That was pretty sick. I couldn't keep up for first because of my "balast" if u know what I mean.

Jacob if you go down below 2 seconds or even do 2 second launch on first 60' on the street tires I will respect you. IIRC my best 60' was 2.14

thats impresive. i couldnt get under a 2.3 except for the run i did a 2.1 and broke an axle on the 1-2 shift so i dont count that.

I have seen auto TL-S and CL-S acuras run low 14's with I/H/E. I don't see why a similar modded 6spd couldn't hit high 13's with a good launch. Its all in the driver.

I did my 2.3 on a track made out of a parking lot. That alone takes skill

In a month or two, I will go to a real 1/4 mile track and show you all what I got

GL with that one....

but then again iirc you said only stock turbo though, which is a little on the smaller side for the older WRX's; awesome response, but lacks top end
so you might be able to keep up some

i just know on the wife's 09, i can't keep with it, if i don't spray at the track (and her's is stock too , for engine wise at least)
