'01 CL-S vs. '14 Sonata 2.0T?
So yesterday a buddy of mine picked up a brand new 2014 Sonata 2.0T. The specs online look impressive: 274hp, 0-60mph in 6.4, quarter mile in 14.9 secs. I have a '01 CL-S 5AT w/101K mis, resonator delete, K&N filter in stock airbox, Unorthodox Racing lightweight crank pulley, DC Sports headers and J-pipe, P2R intake manifold spacer and throttle body spacer (both with thermal gaskets). I haven't had my car dyno'd.
How do you guys think I'll do? We're suppose to race one day after work this week.

Update: We were able to get some runs in tonight. 1st run: 45-90mph I had him by 2.5-3 car lengths. 2nd run: 45-120mph and I won by about five car lengths. Both runs I jumped out a car length almost immediately. He was brake boosting but the torquey 3.2L didn't hesistate. I'm thinking of going to a dry 75hp nitrous shot next and some drag radials or other soft compound tire.

To answer your question you brake boost by lightly stepping on the brake and the gas at the same time. From a stop or a roll, it's the same procedure to brake boost.
He took me for a ride afterwards and tried to launch it from a stop. Nothing but wheelspin.. I'm sure I'd take him from a stop too. In time I'm sure we'll get a dig race in.

We made a dig run tonight just outside an industrial park with plenty of road. I peddled half of first before laying into the throttle and heard nothing but tire screech behind me from his car. By the time I hit 85mph it was long over with, I had roughly 6-7 car lengths before tapping the brakes. We did one more run and took it up to 100mph. Just about the same results and a good 8 car lengths. We switched cars and made a couple roll races. The powerband in the Sonata 2.0T seemed strongest from 3,000-5,500rpm where my CL-S pulls best from 4,500-7,000rpm (in Vtec of course). Nice car. Stock vs. Stock would be a very close race.
