a friend of mine got his 2007 Charger RT the other day, the one with the 5.7 L Hemi. He was talking sum smack to me about racing and me not standing a chance. Well his is completly stock, but i have XS headers and AEM CAI on my car. About what are my chances of winning? Should I just go ahead and buy the UR pulleys just to make sure or what.

He's at 340hp 390tq but is heavy and as a decent driver running high 13s I'd assume, maybe low 14s. Best bet would be to go from a roll, especially if you have 6spd. If you're autotragic, chances are you may lose, but I certainly don't think he'll "smack" you

I raced one from about 60 to 125 and pulled about a two or three cars on him but I'm a 6spd and have headers, cai and pulley...They pull pretty strong for their weight...definitely go from a roll if possible

You will lose from a dig. Definantly go from a roll but expect to see taillights. You will not get destroyed though. I would bet your front bumper will be right behind his rear bumper(from a roll). They trap at around 100mph and your around 97MPH with your mods. that would be my guess.

pulleys will guarantee a win, w/out them it will b a drivers race...dnt race 4rm a dig unless u get pulleys

I have all bolt ons with my 01. They put up a good fight. Race from a roll I got like a 1/2 car to 1 car length. They will definitely will be all over you though. Vtec will give you the pull you need to eek out a win. I think with just I/H you will lose but it won't be a massacre.

R/T's are slow if you ask me..

Friday I walked down a Charger SRT-8. Then we went from a traffic light, I launched out a car on him but, he crept past me in the end 2nd gear and in 3rd. Couldn't walk him down b/c the lights were too close together.

I dunno.....but some SRT-8's are fast and some aren't

I ran another SRT-8 2 Wednesdays ago....I kept 2 cars on him until I hit 110-120, which is around my 4th gear...then he started creeping up and eventually i hit my governor @ 130....but since i took it off i havent raced him again.

Another SRT-8 i've raced was on the hgwy...man that thing was fast...i took off and he was riding my tail the whole time...i couldnt even see his headlights anymore.....and then walked past me.

The one that raced you on wedensday and the one you said walked you and past you, I know them both, they are both my homeboys good friends! My homeboy drives a RT Charger! You say some are slow and some are faster then others? Talking to both of them, they said they wasn't even hitting it like that! When they told me they were racing a Maxima, and that it had a carbon fiber hood, I knew it had to be you Cause your the only one Ive seen with one! I know you got some good mods on your car, but don't think for a sec that the srt-8 is slow! As far as racing a RT Charger, like everybody else race them from a roll! I raced my boy in his RT Charger, but his is not bone stock, he got a chip and exhaust, and something else, don't know what it is, but I know he is able to go 175mph in it witness first hand! When we raced is was from a roll on the highway around 30mph, from 30 to about 90 he pulled about a 1 1/2 cars on me, from 90 to 125mph he pulled 3 1/2 cars on me, from about 125 to 150 he pulled about 6 to 7 cars on me. He was pretty impressed that first my car could go that fast and that I was able to keep up some what. He thougt he was going to smash me. I just cant wait to mod my car, so I can go after him again!

I raced a V6 250HP Charger on the highway today from 60-100, murdered him!

The HEMI's are pretty quick, I don't know if I would guarantee a win with any AT CLS unless it was FI. I might guarantee a win with 6MT, I/H/E and pulleys. If you are AT it is best to race any car from a roll at 45-50, or 75-80 even though third gear is pretty crappy. They are heavier than our cars though.

The Charger HEMI gearing is better than AT CLS 1-3, so maybe you can work it out for him to start in third and you to start in second? If you started at 60, you can still drop to 2nd and 60-80 is pretty quick.

Yeah the V6 model should have never seen the light of day, it is so pathetic in comparison to the Hemi model. I am not sure if you stand much of a chance but don't back down from him.

Shit the Hemi model RT isnt anything...i can smash one of those in my sleep! as for the srt8 they are fast...some are faster than others...i burnt one from a roll one day...i thnk i caught him out of his powerband band but like a week l8r i tried racing one and got spanked by like 3 cars...they still arent that fast from a roll tho...they need mods to make up for weight...but from a dig the SRT8 is pretty damn serious

RT = 5.7L 340HP 4100lbs

SRT8 = 6.1L 425HP 4160 lbs

versus about 300HP (with average mods) on the old rating system

I am gonna have to say you gotta get very lucky to win against one of those........IE the other guy isn't really trying.

lol funny post. I have seen you on Max.org running your 13.9 with your auto. SRT-8's are running low 13's with traps in the high 108-109 range compared to your 99MPH trap. They all are fast and all will dust you without trying. Your max isn't slow but it sure as hell wont hang with SRT-8's.

I got to play with an SRT-8 on my way back from NOPI. I was doing about 60 when he came up behind me. It was dark so I could tell what it was. Anyways, he goes to pull around me in the fast lane then gets back behind me again. At this point I was like what is this guy doing? Then all of a sudden he guns it and takes off around me. So I bit. He was almost two car lengths ahead of me when I decided to give chase. Neadless to say we got up to 130 and I was still two car lengths from him. I don't know what he had done but I did notice a custom two tone paint, rims and exhaust. All I know is he wasn't getting away from me but I sure wasn't going to catch him neither. So on that note I would say that the SRT-8s can be quite fast even from a role. And yes I am an automatic (with 9lbs if boost)but I still have almost every bolt on possible. I would say as long as it is not an SRT-8 be safe and have fun, you will never know till you try.
