New Personal best 1/4 mile time

Conditions today were awesome at Pacific Raceways for an afternoon of drag racing. I ran a personal best the first time down the track. Couldn't seem to repeat my great 60' time again so I never ran a faster elapsed time.

My best elapsed: 12.455 @ 117.43 w/ 2.071 60'
Fastest trap: 12.614 @ 119.16 w/ 2.181 60'

I'm very happy with the way the car is running right now. A tiny tweak of this tune and it'll be perfect.

I ran 5 times. I never lost one race - in fact, it was never even close. The closest race was against a bolt-on 300C SRT8. I put a good 8 cars on him.

Here's a video of the 12.4 run from inside the car...

You mean C5 Z06 or C6... I ran my Toyo T1-R street tires. Any stickier and this rear end would explode.

Nice run Tom You can't get rid of her now.

Were you always running 7psi? I thought you were at 5psi?

I upped it to 7psi and got a retune about a month ago. Dyno'd out at 480whp/445wtq at a 10.2 AFR. Leaning it out should get me very close to 500whp.

500whp is massive. You're smart to let the tires smoke to save the rear end.

So are you keeping her?

Nice time! You should put some drag radials on and shoot for 11s! Time to re-enforce the back end...

I got to run my '06 GTO on Speed Channel's "Pass Time" this past Saturday. (Watch for the red goat on an episode in June!). There was a CTS-V out there that ran 12s and he was not supercharged.

I'll definitely be taking a trip 'down south' to Portland sometime this summer!

117mph trapping is not bad at all which means the car is strong rolling.

Is CTS-V THAT heavy? Because naturally aspirated auto LS2 GTO with that power run mid-low 11s and DR. I know autos are fastest in GTO but just surprised you didn't break into 11s. Maybe elevation and/or wheel hop?

The GTO and the CTSV weigh in about the same. The difference is that you can't launch the CTSV very hard or you'll snap the differential into about fifty pieces. All of my runs are from 1500rpms with a quick, but not too quick, clutch engagement. With my trap speed the car should run 11's. It's an 11-sec car with an 12-sec suspension that was made for the twisties and not drag racing.

I've heard a lot about the CTS-V rear ends blowing up when people get to the HP that you are at.

I say tub it, put in a 9" ford rear with posi solid axles, sub-frame connectors, slicks, and runs some 10s with the power you have

Put some air under the front tires on launch

It's actually rare that the rears break. What typically happens are the gears start making a loud howl. Really annoying in a Caddy.

There's only one aftermarket solution out there right now and it costs about $10k installled. I'd prefer to keep the IRS intact since I use the car for road course and auto-x as well. Drag racing is just kind of a 'filler'.
