my CL-S 6MT vs. s2000

i apologize if this is in the incorrect forum.

im headin' up to the local drag strip this evening with a few friends, and my one buddy with a stock s2000 wants to race. my car is stock with omnipower coilovers and an AEM intake. he's not exactly the greatest driver, but im not a pro either. however, i did manage to squeeze a 14.9/96mph run out of my LS integra with i/h/e. haha. (i was making all the type R owners mad cuz i was running faster than them with 60 less hp :p)

place your bets! :p

just curious as to what you all think will happen.

Honestly, it will just matter who is the better driver. Too much wheel spin from either of you, a shift too early, a shift too late, and the other is probably going to win. Good luck, and I think that you will have no problem taking him.

I dont think you'll have an issue depending on shifts, but like stated its a driver's race

Take his ass down boy. I also have a friend iwth a S2k and he talks so much trash. I have a CLS auto though so he might have me.

As far as specs,

CLS is 260hp at 3500lbs front wheel drive
S2k is 240hp at 2700lbs rear wheel drive

My friend with the S2k told me some crap about how each 100lbs = 20hp

Let us know what happens

That would be like our car having 400Hp then... LOL,

I would start losing some weight then, I weigh 190lbs, if I lost 20 lbs, that would be 4hp. Thats the cheapest mod that I would have done yet.

from what i've read on paper, the S2000 should have a slight edge. but this being a non-professional race (no offense), either could win. good luck!

lol for reals.

I think the extra 800lbs will definitely have an effect but not 100lbs/20hp. I think with our larger engine, we should have a wider peak torque range which should help.

If brad have headers!

A good friend of mine has a '00 S2000 that's stock. Since the day I got my CL-S, he's been talking shit about how his is faster than most cars on the road. (Me= ) But I thought that he'd beat me a little. About 6 months ago, we finally got a chance to run. From A 45 kick, I pulled 2 cars on him untill about 110. That says 1 of 2 things. Either he's a terrible highway runner, or his car is slow. I'm going with the slow car thing.

our car should have a ton more torque making up for the extra weight. I think torque is what gets you there and HP keeps you there. just something I once heard.

A s2000 driven correctly will do a 13.9 quater mile. A CL-S stock driven correctly maybe pull a 14.7! My auto CL-S with h/i/e only pulled out a 14.5 So he should tear ur ass and being that he is rear wheel drive!

Come on now, your comparing apples and oranges. Your comparing your auto vs his 6 speed, and for an S2000 to pull 13.9 he would have to drive it flawless.

Even though the s2k makes all that horsepower, stock there's not a lot of torque there. It is a driver's race but you have more torque. You might be able to get off the line quicker with the weight up front, and the torque (all depends on you). Because of his 4 banger he'll have to put the RPMs up higher to get that torque launch. If he doesn't he'll be screwed every race. The car will take a dump if he doesn't the RPM's where they need to be in 1st gear all the way through 4th gear.

-->This is taking into account that you two are novice 1/4 mile drivers.

it should be a very close race. bring some slicks and it wouldn't be a problem.

i'm getting slicks soon and will try to get in the 13's stock.

welp, im back. my friend with the s2000 didn't go, but there was a guy running a stock one there that was running slower than me all night. here's my best slip. im a little disappointed, but at the same time not really. i had a hard time getting a good launch. i'm 1107.

the other car on this slip was a b18c5 (integra type R motor for those who don't know) swapped and gutted EG (92-95 again, for those not into the civic scene) civic hatchback.

i left my tire pressure alone and had a 3/4 tank of gas. also note it was 93 damn degrees out.

actually not bad numbers for just intake/coilovers.

get the 60' down and you will see much better times.

well i think it definetly depends on the driver..those s2k's are a dog to launch and have no torque down low..i think its gonna be a good one ..as long as u can launch well
