Going to track tonight...

Finally I'm going to Firebird Raceway in Chandler, AZ for a few runs tonight. I can't wait! Sucks I'm not getting my AEM CAI until next week but it'll be good to get a comparision with the setup I have now and then after I put the CAI on. I'm for mid to high 14's. I'll post the results tomorrow. If anyone's going out there tonight from this site give me a shout. Maybe we can meet up and chat at the track. Also if anyone has some suggestions for me, i.e. launching techniques, SShift or just leave it in auto, etc let me know. Thanks!

err lucky you...the seasons been over since like november in the DC area hahahaha...

and for tips, what ive been told is not to brake torque, just hit the gas as soon as you let off the brake..hmm, dont know anything else...and is leaving in it auto really better at the track?

Great thing about Arizona is the racing season is all year round. Sucks they were timing cars for an episode of PINKS at the track tonight so I wasn't able to run. Oh well. Maybe another time. At least I got into a street race and won though!

No, No and er No

learn to use gateshifting at the track, it'll consistently beat auto or sport shifting

It's in the street encounter section. I met up with an 03 WRX and smacked him around a little.

Hmm, really? It's useful for me when I'm about to enter the freeway because I can put it in 2nd and not have to wait for the downshift when gunning it, but why is it better for drag racing? Doesn't the car shift at redline whether in SS mode or auto? SS mode just lets you hold the gear instead of it automatically shifting, right?

Actually I just read on an info thread that the SS mode makes the tranny shift a lot quicker into each gear rather than just leaving it in auto mode. I'm guessing gate shifting is just throwing into 1st gear all the way at the bottom of the shift gate vs putting it in the SS mode and starting from 1st there?

Uh, no no and no.

No - Tranny failure from using SShift? Don't think so. Some people even have use the SShift when the tranny goes south because it's a manual process vs auto.
No - I've read multiple times not to torque brake the car, that's going to case tranny failure much quicker than SShifting it.
No - Take out my rear seats???
