CL-S v.s. 6MT Trans Am
So I was cruising gingerly down this nice 4-laner just passing traffic; not really weaving, but just going between lanes, enjoying getting my car back. Then I see this T/A cruising, and I think to myself "Hrmm, could be fun" Then I though, "Nah, he'd smoke my ass, don't even bother." So I get up to him, and just keeping my speed, passing him, I hear him down shift 6-3 and floor it. He was doing about 45, and I was doin about 50 and slowed down just a hair to look at it. As soon as I hear him jump on it, (I'm in D5) I floor it. He gets the jump on me. (I wasn't expecting to race him...) My nose is at his gas door, by the time I nail it. Slowly, I start reeling him in. By the time we hit the century mark, his nose is at my mirror. I had an aparation... I realized that this was a police-infested area..... So at about 110, and him may be a foot back from my mirror, I jam on the brakes, and slow my happy ass down to 45. I rolled down my window and gave a Him and his girl friend had the and Then he gave me the and went our own ways.
Crazy shit JUSt happened. Dude in the T/A I raced just called me. He worked with me at this dealer ship I used to work at. LOL.
Anyway. That's mah story. Hope yous guys like it.

What's the difference between the LT1 and the LS1? It wasn't a WS-6, in case that's what you though. Those are all the mods I have. Which probably doesn't account to anything. But he didn't skip shift. I can tell he went from either 5th or 6th, down to 4th, down to 3rd. So I think that's how I was able to start inching. So I dunno. I wish I had it on video.

If it wasn't a ws6, it wasn't an LS1. I think you raced an LT1 (which is 50+hp less than the LS1). Maybe you have a turbo or sc you didn't tell us about....cause even if it was a newer LT1 (in relatively good condition) he still should've taken you unless he missed a shift or two.

Are you sure he didn't have his breaks on?

With that said, there's just no way a stock CL-S would pull a stock LS1 on the highway. Even with intake/headers a CL-S only traps 100ish and LS1's trap up to 110mph.

Okay, well, I made an ass out of myself; and I do appologize. I met the kid on Saturday night, and found out that he was playing with me, not being on the gas all the way, and just doing that to make fun of me. Oh well. I feel like a moron now. Sorry for the stupid post.

Nice death, in essence.
Unless your Forced induction, don't bother
EDIT: I'll give you a +1 since you have my favorite CLS color combo.

The kid actually drove a Z3 with the 1.9 liter. So yeah, his car, I know I could spank, but his sister's car, not a chance... Oh well. Atleast I admitted my being

The LS1 came about in '96 (I believe), and generates 345hp and 350 lbs/ft trq stock, in comparison to the LT1 that put out 275hp and 325lbs/ft trq.

As for All Mine -- I was reading the mods list in your signature and kept expecting to see some power mods but didn't see any. With the mods I have now, I beat a mildly modified Z28 and lost to another modified Z28 by a carlength when I had a busted O2 sensor. Good try, though.

But the bottom line is that an LS1, is an LS1, is an LS1. They all run the same. It's all about the driver. Even the C5 Vettes are just as fast as f-bodies. They may weight 300/400lbs less, but have higher drivetrain losses due to their IRS vs. the solid-rear axle on the f-bodies.
The only difference is in the tranny. The A4* will trap lower and be more consitent, whereas the M6 will trap higher - yet run the same E.T. In a perfect world, with expert drivers and no error, the M6 should edge out the A4 in the 1/4, ever so slightly.
So bottom line: all LS1's are pretty much equal / it's the driver that makes the difference.
*NOTE: I am referring to the automatic tranny w/ the performance 3.15 axle ratio. The regual 2.73 axle is junk; you can't even get the tires to break loose.

No freaking way you pulled on a LS1 at that speed especially with the mods you have listed. You might hang with one from 0-45 but after that an LS1 will pull hard and it will only get worse because they have a sick 3rd gear.

On a side note...I saw a Pontiac Blackbird at the exhaust shop yesterday... Number 3. I can't stand FBody cars...Hell Fisher-Price uses higher end plastic inside than GM does...but that was a stunning machine. Number 3 of 50. That's a car i'm likely never to see again in my lifetime!

A friend of mine from high school had number 0-The prototype. Then another guy had number 2 or 4. I can't remember. His father had the first orange one. He bought the yellow one for his graduation.
