3G Acura TL-S vs 2008 Honda S2000
Anyone had a chance to race on of these at the track?
s2000's have been getting a lot of flack for being surprisingly heavy...ever since the Si Sedan beat it around the track time wise it was almost like people questioned why the car existed.
Anyone's TL-S or even Supercharged TL put one of these in their kill box?

I used to own a S2K, hence my moniker, and loved it on the track. There is no comparison to running it against the TL since each car has a completely different mission. The S2K is about as pure a sports car as is possible in its class, maybe only surpassed by the Lotus Elise or Exige. The TL is a four door sedan, a damn fine one, could even classify it as a sports sedan comparable to a BMW, but still a completely different car. I lost my S2K in a garage fire two years ago and miss it every single day. While the TL has been a great car, it still has not created a burning passion in me. Maybe I would feel different if mine was a TL-S but I still think you would be comparing apples and oranges.

Like I said in another thread, I'm also an x-s2k owner. From experience (actually anyone can almost make this assumption) the s2k is a little slow off the line and before it hits vtec. The tl-s has enough torque where is might have an advantage here, but not many people are willing to race from a dig, I feel. Other than that, the s2k will beat the tl-s every time and is about .3 quicker in the 1/4 mile from the fastest times I've seen. Handling, well there is no comparison so I wont even start. Miss my s2k, hopefully I can get my hands on an AP1 for cheap soon. The car is a drivers dream.

Not to start anything but you should do some research before you start assuming the Civic SI sedan is the same as the Civic Type R sedan. The Type R is NOT a SI. The Type R is also NOT slightly better in performance than the SI. If they ever brought that baby over to the states I would prefer that over the s2k or TL-s. The S2k is also NOT a coupe, it is a roadster. The estimated weight of a s2k is 2800lb's whereas the CTR is roughly 2700lb's and to throw the SI in there, it's estimated to weigh 3000lb's. Why is the SI 300lb's heavier than the JDM CTR? Easy, the CTR does not require any of those fancy safety gadgets to meet the safety standards of the US since it isn't offered here. So you shouldn't compare a USDM spec vehicle to a JDM spec vehicle. To answer your question, I would say it's a driver's race. S2k's weaker engine is made up by its light weight where as the TL-s with mighty power has to lug around its porky weight.
