2008 Accord V6 (268hp!!) vs CL-S's
Sorry this is not a racing story just a future competition/ camparo.
Just did a litte Car and Driver reading and wow the new Accord's have a 3.5L 268hp engine. I wonder how this compares with our 3.2L?
Also.... the new Accords have more hp than the new base TL's (3.2L 258hp)....this doesn't make sense to me. Anybody care to clarify this for me?
Is Acura planning on making all there TL's 286hp like the current TL-S's?

(fingers crossed) maybe they will bring back the CL. We need a new CL-S with 330+hp SH-AWD Coupe of some kind. Infiniti G37 coupe needs a a** kicking.

If H/A made a DOHC, I-VTEC 3.5 with multiple cam profiles on the intake AND exhaust, (instead of SOHC with just intake cam profile like now) the engine would make 330HP! Someone tell me why it hasn't yet been done! WHY?
Actually I will tell you why, they were waiting for competition. They only put the detuned 3.5 on the new Accord because of the engine offerings from Camry, Maxima, IS350. They just had to wait and release it so it wouldn't cannabalize TL sales. That is why a new TL is coming out right after the Accord. I would guess the new base TL will be a 3.5 detuned slightly less, maybe even stick with the current 286hp type S setup. This is the same thing they did last gen with the 260hp type S and then regular 3rd gen TL at 270.

I'm just confused why the 08 Accord has more horsepower than the 08 base TL. Why didn't they just bring out a 275hp 3.5L detuned Type S motor for the 08 base TL. That way its higher than the Accord but still less than the TL-S. Just seems very odd to me...that a Honda has more hp than its Acura counter part.
When is TL's Model change.. is it 09?

That's just how H/A does things I guess...They are coming out with their new star Accord a year after the direct competition new Camry came out. TL change is MY 2009, which means with the new Accord out, base TL sales might go down the toilet for MY 2008.
EDIT: SO basically they may be willing to cannabalize base TL sales for one year? Unless tey are upgrading for MY 2008 which I don't think is the case.

I think the new accord is ugly ewwww it looks exactly like a Lexus IS plus are engine are not out of date the m3 is also 3.2 and has potential plus if we are supercharge we would eat them up!!!

With the Altima Coupe and G37's making waves in the auto world, anyone here of Acura Bringing a Coupe back (yes, the RSX...I know, but we all know that's a 'suped up Civic, CL-X anyone? 
There's no other car I love the looks of more than my 03' CL-S...clean and refined...

Bare in mind, the TL/CL is based on the Accord. Hence, the 2003 Accord leapfrogged the 2003 TL-P/CL-P. Likewise for the 2008 Accord.
That said, I do not foresee the new Accord cannibalizing 08 TL sales much. Despite the advances evident with the 8G Accord, the TL is still decidedly upscale by comparison.

an ugly but superpowerful accord!! i cant wait to see what Acura has up its sleeve. at least we know the next TL and hopefully upcoming CL(fingers crossed) will have over 270 hp in its base engine. but what i dread is the inevitable weight gain our future gens of the TL/CL may see. i mean...the accord is now in the full-size segment and weights 3500+ pounds. also, i wouldnt worry much about accord stealing sales, it will never offer the sexy looks only acura can offer.

I am constantly amazed by the imprudent people there are in the world....and how thoughless people act when having a simple conversation.
