i dont know much about them, but i raced one, and burned him, some young guy, he kept trying to race me, and over and over i took him, from a dig, about a 40 roll, maybe a 20, but either way i put many cars between us, so i find it hard to beleive.

GTI's are not light as sh*t. Yes lighter than us but only by ~300lbs.
My buddy had a 2002 1.8T stage 2 turbo kit and I could keep up with him fine.
Stock for Stock CL-S and a new 2.0T GTI are pretty even (Drivers Race). High end the CL-S will pull away always.
