1/4 mile times for stock TL or CL
Not the type S versions, but I want to know the best 1/4 mile times for a CL-P or TL-P, stock.........I could of sworn there was a guy running high 14's, the people on the celica boards are saying that they can't even run low 15's...need some help here.

not to be mean but that was an ignorant post, honestly you sound just like some of the celica people. The type S and GTS are equal...nuff said, ive owned both cars. Best NA GTS ive seen on the board was 13.7.....don't see that NA for the Cl-S.

Our cars aren't dedicated sports cars.
They're "Luxury Sport Coupes".
The SRT4 is faster too but which of the three would you rather have?
Hmmm
Fast go kart or all around nice vehicle?

As for what one would rather have, they each have their own appeal. Most women will choose a Celica. Most modern age hot rodders will choose the SRT-4 (fastest FWD production vehicle in the history of automobile for under 20K - can't blame them for choosing it). And people like me and most others on this board will choose the CL/TL because of what the car is: a sport luxury coupe or sedan!

hmmm....nevermind then...o well.
I was never trying to compare the two cars anyways, I was just sticking up for the TL and Cl on the celica board. now I just got this quote about how CLS 6spd's run high 14's

typeR has run 13s as well . . . 13.7s if I recall correctly.
As for stock vs stock (TypeS), I never lost to a stock or even slightly modded GTS.
I know that there are a lot more mods available for the GTS so it's not a fair comparison to say who would in a fully modded scenario. If you want to go there and change the comparison, I'd just get a different car than the TL and whip up on 13sec GTS all day long.
I had a TL before theTypeS and it was ok and would hang with a stock GTS.

So in that case, a stock TypeS will take a stock GTS.

. . . . and to go with that, here's a quote from Edmunds on the GTS
"The engine, a 180-hp 1.8-liter four, is best when used above 6,000 rpm. It is here that the VVT-i variable valve timing system changes over to the aggressive profile. The feeling is like having your very own little jet afterburner kick in. For maximum acceleration, and for the one-two shift in particular, care must be taken to keep the revs as high as possible. The engine's redline is 7,800 rpm, but a few hundred extra revs can be gained until the limiter kicks in.
With practice, 0 to 60 mph can be done in 6.9 seconds, and the quarter-mile achieved in 15.4 seconds at 91.6 mph."
So, it looks like even a TL-P will take a GTS when comparing apples to apples.

I don't believe those numbers for a second. Not a single TL-P has run lower than 15.0 at the track even with I/H/E/Pulleys/Tires/etc... how the hell does a stock TL-P do it in 15.2? Actually... most stock TL-S's run 15.2 @ 93,

I once ran a brand new (at that time) 2002 Alti 3.5SE with my TL-P rental and held a bumper on him from a stop light to about 1/4 mile. (Even with my 02 Maxima, I dont sleep on any 2G TL.)

Also, I ran 14.7s stock . . . . just wheels and tires.

Didn't Willdogs have a video of his 0-100 run? That car seemed pretty quick for not being a type S.

Three Wheelin'
To add to my above post, the track conditions and weather were very good that day, which of course helped. Sixty foot time was 2.27. 1/8th time was 9.667. Then I bought lightweight SSR's but could only manage a 15.1. But with all those miles I decided I might be fighting a clogged converter, weak MAP sensor or someother sensor, coils, who knows. So much could be worn out that I'm fighting a stupid battle. So I will not go back, but I was shooting for a 14.8 as a goal. I will say this, that the now completed install of the thermoblock spacers along with the cooling mods and I/H/P makes for a strong running engine that still does not use any oil.

Oh and stock CLS6s are generally mid-14s at 96mph with the occasional low 14s (14.1-14.3) in there.
my stock TLS was a 15.2@93 and I believe that the TLPs/CLPs are mid to high-15s at 88-90mph from what I've read.

BTW:whocares: about 1/4 numbers they aren't the end all be all numbers for performance. From a roll a CL-S will take down a GTS with ease. Like I stated in an earlier thread I've beaten a modded GTS before rather easily.
