03 6-speed vs two cars that should of walked me....

My car just keeps surprising me more and more. Im on my way home and I see a 2009 convertable v8 mustang, an early 90's GTX eclipse with a big front mount that sounded sick, and the newest body style s2000 racing up and down on a three lane highway. So I decided to creep my way up to them. I first got next to the mustang and he punched it next to me. So I caught up and we both hit it from 60mph to about 110mph. If I would of cut my balls off and threw them out the window for weight reduction I would of beat him. He MIGHT of had me by about a quarter panel at 110mph. He asked me what the hell is done to my car all shocked. So I told him all the bolt-ons. So I asked him if his is stock. He replied " its got a whipple supercharger and its a 6-speed ." I said "what? You should of done a lot better than that!" He didnt know what to say. So then here comes the eclipse and the s2k. They both get next to me and we all punch it at 40mph (2nd gear). Me and the eclipse were dead even up to the end of my third and then I let off leaving the s2k behind us. Im thinking to myself, did this just happen? I just wanted to know what was going through their minds after a CL-S just hung with a nasty eclipse and a blown mustang.

Nice runs vs the S2k and GSX Eclipse. Although he may have had a big front mount and sounded nasty, doesn't mean he had a GT30 under the hood running high 11s. With that said, I wouldn't downplay the results either

I hate to run over your foot but the owner of the Stang was clearly mistaken. The 05-09 GTs came in 5 speed, not 6, and if he were supercharged you would've been about as awestruck as him finding out that his own car is 5 speed. And before you say it was the new 5.0, it wasn't.

Sorry, I assumed it was a 6-speed being a newer mustang, your right it was a five speed. Trust me I know it wasnt the new 5.0 because stock he wouldve put 10 cars on me, but it was supercharged. I read online where that car stock with that whipple supercharger kit puts out 400 hp........which he still should of walked me, but being a convertible and 3 guys in it will slow it down some but still should of beat me. From a dead stop im sure he would of beat me, but imagine what our cars are capable of running if you could launch from a hole at 2500-3000 rpms and dead hook. What slows our cars down is that they cannot hook up. Therefore I think from a roll theyre quicker than most people think.

Try 18s by 9" or10" & motor mounts you will see a big difference. & if our cars with bolt ons can keep up with a M class i see why not? Only if you have an automatic then u need to just quite.

they are quicker once we are going, i have bolt ons myself and a VIN'd 6spd and i out-ran a M5 with CF hood, front fenders and trunk, and all he did at the next stop was shake his head then turned right. i have also out-ran a Rousch SC mustang AND get this from a dead stop, and also a Mitsu 3000 VR4 twin t. now maybe it was their driving but it still happened and i am proud! by the way 2ndGentl like those wheels!

Thanks Letitgo....Wow, I havent seen this thread in a while. I actually ran into that guy in the mustang at Starbucks and all his friends are scared of me. Im the talk of the town i guess because I have raced A LOT more cars since then that should've walked me. Most people dont even know what beat them. Face it, not a lot of people have even heard of a CL-S. I could list some cars on here that I beat or hung with, but I know all I would do is start arguments on here because most of you would disagree with me. Im currently looking for a 3.7 Intake Manifold if anyone knows where I could find one.

I can vouch that this CL is pretty quick. Met up with him last Friday, we did 3 runs. 1st run I honestly slept on him, as I haven't had any real issue keeping up with or beating CL-S's in the past. 3 honks and some mph later and he's a car or so ahead of me. 2nd run I was like "Ok, he's no joke so let me pay attention". I ended up missing 3rd this time as he was slightly ahead of me, I'd say by a fender or so. 3rd run was a clean run, we were side by side from 40 till about 120 where we shut down coming around a curve with me on the outside lane. I can definitely see this car surprising alot of people, as I was surprised myself.

Oh and it wasn't with my own CL, it was with my DD E36 M3, which is stg2 software with some supporting mods.

Thanks for supporting my sled Chris! lol I ended putting my stock stat back in because that night we raced my temp gauge never climbed more than 3 notches from the bottom which was way too cold to be flooring my car. Also, heat makes HP. Now I am waiting for my hood bump to be made so that I could close my hood. After installing that IM spacer the hood wouldnt close. I've been driving around with no hood for the past 4 days...here are some pics........

you're the 1st J series I've seen with that Ridgeline spacer, it seems to definitely make a difference. Can't wait to see the finished product of the hood!

You should make that a true CAI

I never understood why the intake looks so much longer for the CL's...it's as if the motor sits further towards the passenger side. I feel like the intake manifold & throttle body definitely sit more towards the passenger side.

It still sits dead center, but the intake actually is longer. CL's and 2G TL's have straight fenders, creating a wider engine bay, where as your Accord and the 3G TL have fenders that slope markedly inward, making for a narrower engine bay, and consequently, narrower hood as well.

Nice CL, BTW. Clean!

Your car looks amazing and clean! Looks just like mine but silver and no bump on hood. Are those rims 18 x 9 + 45? That's what I have...
