'01 CLS vs. '03 Accord coupe

Both automatic, both are stock, CLS driver knows how to drive....accord driver's going to probably just mash on the gas pedal...1/4 mile race straight line....who's gonna win?

Destroyed an Accord Coupe with a fart can, debadgeds and blacked out paint and wheels, and a fart can. I embarrassed him so royally I would even let him pass me by, get about a 4 car length lead on me and I'd just pull away from him like he was standing still just to show him how pointless it was to try to challenge me twice from a 60mph rolling start.

if he had one fart can it was the 4 banger...the v6's are nice but the cls is obviously the dominant car

I didn't say he didn't have a chance he just had no low end or midrange power. I was definately murdering the dude in 2nd and 3rd gear but he had a chance if I didn't shift just right, like right out of the tip top of 3rd then into 4th. Shifting just right and being full on throttle I left his ass several carlengths behind. All that top end power does him no good on the street. He would have needed 20 miles of road to use his top end effectively in a full on race.

I couldn't tell whether he had one or two. All I know is I could definately hear that peice of garbage over my sound system and with my windows up. We were going too fast and I was too busy watching traffic (here comes the anti speed police to tell me I'm endangering people on public roads). It must have been a V6 cause there's no way a 4 banger is going to stay that close unless it's modified.

CLS v.s. Accord Coupe (V6).

20 more horsepower (260 vs 240).

20 more ft/lbs of torque (232 vs 212).

216 pound(s) more base curb weight (3510 vs 3294).

Well, to answer your question I'd say on a 1/4th mile run it would probably be about even due to the Acura's obesity issues maybe with the the CLS pulling away at the end. And considering my personal experience with one seemingly not having any real low end or mid-range power It's probably true.

Either way both are nice cars. I prefer 4 doors so I was in the market for a AV6 Sedan or Tl-S.

I've had a (04-05ish Accord V6 Not sure if he was stick or auto) behind me one day on some back country roads. He kept up pretty well from a stop but by the time I hit 60 I started pulling slowly on him. I was impressed he could keep up as well as he did..but there was no arguement I was the faster car.

p.s. all I had was intake at the time.

dude some of the accord coupe 6spds are pretty quick. my buddy has a strong 03 6spd accord coupe with intake and we went at it from a 2nd gear pull and we were dead stuck up to 120. btw i had a stock cls6 and i am no slouch driver either.

hah yeaa i'd believe that for a 6spd accord, but the one we're talkin about is a automatic...so he doesnt have the advantage over my CLS except for the 200 pounds of less weight

ok, well i hope you all are happy, i only beat him by one car length...this took place on a track... btw....he revved it hard while he was in neutral, then dropped it into drive and he had quite the spinnage of wheels....i didnt spin as much so surprisingly i took off the line much better than him...he kept up well, and i got scared for a few sec, then once we got past like 50mph, i started gaining on him... we took it up to 80mph and i hit the hazard lights...god i was so happy, cause this guy is such a faggot.... hah got 200 bucks off it which is pretty sweet, now i wanna race the GLI as soon as he gets back from charleston, this race made me feel pretty good about my car....but of course its still stock...i got a long way to go...thanks for all the comments and suggestions guys

When I had my 04TL 5AT, I raced a 6MT Accord coupe and we were dead even until about 90 because of the 6MT and less weight. Auto vs. auto should be a win for you definitely. Nobody ever said there was anything wrong with unbolting those 4 bolts and taking the back seat/console out either. Also, taking the tools and spare out the back helps with weight, not much but maybe 100 pounds or so. Just make sure to have fix a flat or something

The 6spd AV6 stock run 14.3-14.5@98-99MPH with a good driver. Thats right with a CL-S 6spd stock. Most of the Auto AV6's stock run about 15.0@94MPH but there are guys on our website that run 14.5@97 with just intake. Its a close battle!
