Body shop for custom wheel painting?
Body shop for custom wheel painting?
Does anyone know of any good body shops in the Chicagoland area (preferably somewhat near Elgin) that does good paint work? I want to paint my wheels hyper black but don't know where to go or I guess more importantly, where not to go. Thanks.
normally powder coating is better for wheels especially if you only want like one or two colors on them
and it is alot more durable at the same time too, imagine how fast the wheels are spinning to start with (900 rpm or somewhere around there), then add in the speed you are going down the road (lets just say 65 mph for reference, speed can vary easily), and now toss some rocks/pebbles at the wheels, the coating has to be able to stand up to such abuse especially if a daily driver
so you want a really durable coating on those wheels, so you do not have to deal with chips and such at a later date

Yeah, no doubt. I'm assuming they would be powder coated to ensure a durable finish. I'm really unsure what kind of ballpark price tag I'm looking at here too. Has anyone done this before? I know color/finish has to be a big part of it, but what's a good estimate? $300? $500? More?

)as far as pricing, i think it kinda also depends on the size of the wheel too, along with the spoke design, with how much material will have to be used
also i would get the wheels either sand blasted or bead blasted to get all the old paint/coating off, and leave a nice surface for the new coating to grab onto
