Any good Acura service in the suburbs?
Hi,
I've been to a few Acura service departments in the North/NW suburbs with my last two Acuras, and I have yet to have my car fixed correctly, or without an argument or hassle. Can anyone recommend one, or an alternative to having Acura do warranty work? I cringe whenever an issue comes up because I dread having to go to the dealer.

I have had bad experiences at most of the NW suburban Acura dealers. The best one I could find is brookfield Acura in Wisconsin. It is a drive but i think it will be worth it for big jobs. I mainly avoid dealerships if I can. This dealership is the one all the Chicago NSX owners go to. They are willing to drive for it.

Ironically, that was the last dealer in the area I tried. Here's the story.
I brought my '07 RDX in because the front brakes were grinding and the P/S was locking up, and my door tweeters were buzzing due to a service bulletin fix for loose grilles. I asked them to put in the diagnostic CD to see if any other speakers were buzzing because one of the rears and the driver door seem to buzz.
The mechanic rode with me to hear the grinding and buzzing tweeters, and we got back to the shop and he noticed that there was rust on my rear rotors and he thought it was somehow related. I received a call a couple days later that my rear brakes needed to be turned and that was somehow causing my fronts to grind. They also said that they glued my tweeters (the service bulletin I read on Acurazine recommended complete replacement because of faulty grilles). They told me that there was no such thing as an Acura diagnostic CD, so apparently they didn't bother checking my speakers. I ended up paying $280 for resurfacing my rear rotors, and my tweeters still buzz so I doubt they did anything with them. I ended up fixing the grinding by buying my own ceramic front pads and having them installed at a Carx.

ugh I hate how ppl care more about the waiting room and whether they have free drinks donuts and big screen tv/internet more than whether they can actually do good work on ur car without doing more damage everytime.

I know this thread is old, but I'll quickly say that McGrath in Westmont has been great for me. I had a bait and switch done by Woodfield and won't go back to those rat bastards. Who cares how nice their waiting room is.
Anyway, the real reason I'm bumping this thread is because I'm now past my 100,000 warranty and want to find a good Honda/Acura mechanic who can do regular maintenance stuff for me for reasonable prices. For example, I want to do a coolant drain and fill (from the engine block, not the radiator). I'm noticing that dealers either only drain the radiator, or they charge an arm and a leg. Outside shops are surprised when I tell them the engine has a drain bolt which worries me a little.
Anyone have a Honda/Acura friendly shop that they recommend?

Any opinion on Aruca of Libertyville? Just bought a used 2006 TL not from them and have a strange noise when brakes applied above 40 mph. Sort of a rumbling noise, no pedal or steering vibration and no squealing or grinding. Would like to get it fixed. Not sure where to go. Live in Vernon Hills.
Thanks

Continental in Naperville? That's funny you ask. I just went there last week because the sent me a free oil change coupon. They have a no appt quick lube service (Mon - Fri only). Had me in an out in 30 min in the late morning. That was pretty nice.
I don't know much else about them though since I always go to McGrath in Westmont now.

If you really want great dealer service, just look for Precision Team by Acura on the wall. I can tell you that Ed Napleton ranks in the very bottom of the list for customer satisfaction nation wide. I have seen Zimbrick's mistakes cost a 94 Leg, a head gasket job because they didn't put a hose clamp on the lower radiator hose and the car blew its head gaskets on an I294 on-ramp. People where from north of Madison and had to have the engine fixed.
All Chicago dealers are good, but Napleton. Trust me, I work for one

Some of you may say that I ramble too much about that but...I hate to see that some of us have to go through this 3rd and 4th gear switches thing or power steering problems. I truly thought that Acura's service should be better than my Honda's and I'm somewhat disappointed. Look, I know I don't drive a Bentley but I think they should do more better job at service departments. Some service advisors just don't listen and they argue a lot when it comes to warranty work needed to be performed. That's just my

I like McGarth acura in Morton Grove. I guess i go there cuz its near my house but they always send me a feedback survey any time i get my car serviced and I hear that any rating less than 10 is basically a Fail. and the service staff is new which could mean that a lot of ppl got fired for getting less than 10 ratings, but thats juss me guessing.

Arlington Acura in Palatine has been really helpful to me.
picked up a CPO 08 MDX.
check trans light came on with P0824? code. went in, diagnosed a bad trans fluid sensor and replaced on the spot in 30 mins. also told me my rear brakes were shot....
found it odd since i got it less then a month ago but Devin spotted the worn pad. suggest that it would be replace. got it done free since it was only a month old.

Hit me up if you need service.... I don't usually come here much but my rates are way less than the dealer: Rajca knows me and I've done a few TBelts for folks from this forum over the years.
