Oh I knew you meant for Little Cha. I always figure if I had kids I would want a full hammock for if they throw/drop snacks or drop their sippy cup or anything else then it is all contained and kept off your nice clean carpets too.

Pheonix, I like warm weather, 32F last night here, but 25F further inland. Mississippi coast.

Phoenix seems nice.

I've learned that it's really only bad if it's hilly or you live way out in the country.

We don't really have the infrastructure to handle it. A lot of Austin just shuts down until it clears up at like noon. Usually a whole day does not freeze. The temperature creeps up around noontime.

I didnt record this but this is what we had a year ago. This one was about 8" and didn't stick, but a few weeks later, we had 2-4" that did stick, then it dropoed to 7F outside. Terrifying trip to and from town that night.

This is why I ask. I'm scared of it.

I had to brave it out with skill. Skill that I learned in the process.

In 24 years of driving I have driven on actual snow precisely one time; last January. And that turned out to be a total fiasco (slid right between cross-traffic at a red light with brakes locked and wheel hard over). Not fun at all, and I immediately called out of work and limped back home with my tail between my legs.

In fairness to me, it hadn't snowed where I live since 1989.

Where do you live and what were you driving?

I was in the RDX, opted not to take out the TL that night. I slid twice. Just throttle lightly and turn into curve, you'll get your traction back this way, works on FWD/AWD cars. I also did not exceed 20 mph, and yes, people were still passing me, in fact, I braked when someone was passing me, creating one of my slides. Rear end fallowed the slight embankment of the road and started going tailways to the right just a little bit. I think my Bridgestone Duhler Alanza H/L tires weren't up to the task. I slide easilly on gravel. I also think the 50/50 weight distribution wasn't helping either, but mainly, I blame the tires.

I was in my Genesis with all-seasons on it. I live in south GA and as I said it hadn't snowed here for over 30 years. What happened was I was coming to a red light and just didn't consider that it was icy on the road so I didn't start slowing down earlier than I usually do. Brakes completely locked up and I slid right through the red light between two cars going through the intersection. Was only going like 15 mph or so but was still scar AF! Totally my fault as I was kind of on cruise control just driving to work like always and not thinking about the possibility of sliding on the ice, but as I said, it was the very first (and only) time I have ever driven in snow before...

Ouch...

I'm suprised y'all don't see snow that frequently...

We may get a light dusting of sleet in the southern part of Mississippi, about 30 miles north of the gulf coast...

I think your winter weather is worse than ours in Chicago. Ice is far more treacherous than snow.

Had similar happen, but in rain. My old Saturn on worn (but still decent) tires. Coming down an overpass & got cut off. Hit the brakes (no ABS) and locked all 4 at 60mph; definitely an odd feeling to accelerate while braking. Luckily, no collision.

Where you live, you’d be a skinny little sasquatch by now.

But enough about you, how is your nose-heavy FWD car with the horrible interior materials? Asking for Saintor.

Big dose of nope in that forecast.
Highs in the 60s, lows in the 40s til Tuesday here, followed by a dip into the 40s for a day, and back into the 60s. Summer's nearly here.

Waste of money, dude. Worst car ever. Should've bought an RDX and upgraded those tires and I'd be driving faster than the Millennium Falcon on the Kessel Run.

On a less snarky note, the car is fabulous. When I first sat in the S5 in the showroom, the interior was breath-taking and I still have that sentiment when I am behind the wheel. The layout, feel, look, and ambient lighting...all just work wonderfully together. I've pretty much only drive it to and from work the week and a half of ownership so far but with the massage seats and music going, my nearly 60 minute commute in bumper-to-bumper traffic is no longer that much of a chore. The roads have been messy here with the non-stop snowfall and combined with the break-in period, I've put off doing any hooliganing of the car and accelerations are always gentler. Having been in the FX and MINI for the last while, the one thing to get used to is how low I am but it's not a bad thing...just a bit of paranoia as I drive in and out of driveways.

Fuel efficiency seems alright but given my rush hour pattern, I went through 80% of a tank in about 7ish days without driving much on the weekend (pick up of last Tuesday). So, I guess it seems okay...it's not nearly as thirsty as the FX but a bit worse than the MINI, I think. Then again, not much highway driving so far so my numbers are bit skewed. Bumps are felt a bit more as the car is definitely on the stiffer side. But, amazingly, this car is very minimal on rattles and if anything, it's likely Little Cha's car seat in the back that's making noises when I go over any uneven pavement.

The MMI is neat and if anything, the glitchiness of my car's ability to access my Pixel (Gen 1) is likely more to do with the phone than the Audi system. I've since reinstalled Android Auto to see if the on-again-off-again SMS access now works better and so far this morning, no problems. I didn't realize my car could read Twitter to me. So, now I get Dennisov's full-stupid rants read to me by the S5 as part of my commute if I wish. The car's auto trunk closure via the fob is flaky and I'm taking it in quickly on Monday to see what's the hold up. Supposedly, holding the trunk button on the fob should get that door closed automatically...should is the word. Not sure what is up there on the days it does not work.

Here's the S5 in her filthy glory after most of the moisture had flowed off after going through the sand/snow mess the other day...
