Your favorite semi-classic?

Inspired my madcaps recent purchase of an '86 535i, what's your favorite car from that era? Too new to be considered a classic, but old enough to be worth restoring.

My favorites:

Triumph Dolomite Sprint

Lancia Delta Integrale

E30 M3

Audi Quattro

Mk1 GTI

2nd Gen Camaro. My French teacher bought one of these new and to this day it's still his DD.

We already know what classic i love. E24 M6 or 635 euro.

Hmm i cant think of many cars I want from the 80s besides the exotics. Was that the worst decade for cars?

It wasn't great, but the 70's has it beat by a country mile when it comes to the worst decade for cars.

I can't completely agree with you, at least not when it comes to early 70's. Then again early 80's sucked too.

also, a number of the other cars already posted in this thread...

you also reminded me of....

The aforementioned E24 M6 is near the top ('86 shown)

x 2 on the Conquest/Starion

One of my favorite cars I've ever owned, the 1993 Ford Probe GT

1994 Porsche Turbo

And who didn't want to be the "Bandit" ('75 TA shown)

I could probably go on forever...

1984 - 1989 (although most of them were '84s and '85s) Carrera M491 Turbo-look. Standard Carrera engine and gearbox, Turbo everything else.

on the FC.

I want to put an LSx in one, heh. its just so badass to start up an RX-7 and have people all of a sudden go and walk over

I still drool over these. They're a dying breed

Offhand, my choices would be:

1986 Ford Taurus-milestone machine

1985 Ford Mustang GT-last of the carburetors

1986 Ford Mustang SVO-last of the series, and the most powerful

1986 Buick Grand National-first of the intercoolers, and arguably the definitive muscle car of the eighties

1985 Toyota Supra-horsepower increase and tweaked styling cues

Road car or not, it's a slick looking car.

With the black spoiler, I love it.

I don't think this design will ever get old. I miss flip up lights.

My dream car as a kid.

One of my dream cars now It doesn't really fit in this topic but it is my favorite car.
