WYHI: Sharpie Gallardo

Look closely: The designs covering this Lamborghini Gallardo is nothing more than an item available at your local supplies store… a Sharpie. Your trusty $0.85 marker garnishing a $190,600 sports car.<!-- smallsquare DISABLED--> I love it.

The car was actually done in sharpie markers on the paint and then finished with a clear coat for protection. It took about 2 weeks total. Prestige (Lamborghini Miami) definitely shocked a lot of people when this car was first seen in California during the Concorso Italiano/Pebble Beach week. It attracted attention good and unfortunately bad everywhere it went.

sho_nuff1997 07-28-2008 01:15 PM

Awesome artwork, but not on a car.

phipark 07-28-2008 01:17 PM

Some people have too much time and money.

invisiblewar 07-28-2008 01:17 PM

i think it looks dope hahaha

but then again im into cars and that type of art so it goes together well for me

Shalooby 07-28-2008 01:18 PM

John Lennon did something similar with his Rolls Royce Phantom V, It was covered in bright colors and psychedelic patterns. Pissed a lot of people off, especially Rolls Royce.

JS + XES 07-28-2008 01:18 PM

my eyes hurt

DarkSithCL 07-28-2008 01:27 PM

...looks like it just drove out of a comic strip... really cool effect... I really like comics so I am bias...

DarkSithCL 07-28-2008 01:28 PM

oh yeah...sick set of shoes too...

RaviNJCLs 07-28-2008 01:37 PM

What a waste of a good car.

Will Y. 07-28-2008 01:38 PM

:puke:

AsianRage 07-28-2008 01:43 PM

I like it a lot! But I do think they went a bit overboard and should have kept some features black like the rear lower diffuser.

CGTSX2004 07-28-2008 01:49 PM

On the one hand, I can appreciate the work and artistic capability it took to create that.

On the other hand, I think it looks odd on a car.

So ...

Yumcha 07-28-2008 01:50 PM

:what:...the...fawk...

TommySalami 07-28-2008 02:07 PM

I like the way it looks when you're only seeing an up close part of the car, but looking at the whole car like that makes me want to :puke:

FiftyFive 07-28-2008 02:23 PM

^ WTF is up with your av?

The Dougler 07-28-2008 02:25 PM

nothing some $0.85 sand paper can't fix.

CG2PROJECT 07-28-2008 02:32 PM

Looks fresh. I like it.

invisiblewar 07-28-2008 03:36 PM

even from the distance shots i think it looks sick.

FiveLiterCheater 07-28-2008 04:30 PM

Yeah i'd rock it

mystikk 07-28-2008 04:38 PM

First reaction was ":what: Ooooh!"

Cool.

wackura 07-28-2008 04:42 PM

I like how the design extends into the windows. I think it's awesome as a conversation piece, obviously it would suck if everybody did it. It's sad to see people hating on something that's unique and doesn't look half bad. It's not unlike guitarists who draw all over their guitars. I like that he took a risk and didn't do the same old thing.

stright-(paint)balling 07-28-2008 04:51 PM

it's for sure unique.
would i give an extra 10-20 g's for it. in one word "no"

but i like it better than Busta Rhyme's lime green Lambo.
that paint just retarded. :whyme:

Moog-Type-S 07-28-2008 04:56 PM

Reminded me of this :snicker:

wackura 07-28-2008 04:58 PM

I don't think he did it to improve the car's value. If anything I'm sure he's aware that it slightly decreases the value.

I would most definitely NOT hit it.

Some people have more money than sense.

majin ssj eric 07-28-2008 07:52 PM

I actually like it but would never do it to my Gallardo (if I can ever afford one)...

crispy34 07-28-2008 08:53 PM

pretty sure the sharpie work was done over clear vinyl.

I'm gonna have to sneak a picture of the chick that's always working the register at the McDonalds on campus here. She looks JUST like that mexican chick on the right with the sharpie around her lips.

subinf 07-28-2008 11:02 PM

Oddly, I don't mind it.

S14 n Tsx 07-28-2008 11:49 PM

Unique?

Dope art work, but not really for a car.

mrmako 07-29-2008 05:12 AM

I like the idea, as an advertising stunt/gimick....

but not on the fine Italian..... No.....

Now, put it on a Ford Focus and now we're talkin....Straight up pimp.... :spank:

Why on earth would you intentionally do this?

That would make sense. I know of at least one person who has clear-bra'd their ENTIRE car.

If this car was done in that way, the artwork is done as a publicity stunt and then pulled off just prior to selling it to someone else.

rondog 07-29-2008 09:29 AM

Funk that, easy way to hide door dings and swirls...

I like it man, I would even do this to a showcar myself one day, but not to a daily driver.
Watch this become a trend soon.
