Which would you pick: 2009 G37x sedan or 2009 Acura TL

Personally, I do a lot of stop and go city driving and the highways during my commute are usually packed with slow moving stop/go traffic so I can't get anything better than about 17-18MPG
The Worst I got was about 13-14MPG doing lots of spirited driving, but that's to be expected.
I have yet to do a decent highway run to see what I would get but people on the other G boards say they've gotten as high as 22MPG
The gas economy on the G is pretty bad, but the fun (For me) outweighs the MPG's.

G because the TL is not the SHAWD model.

Yeah, the drivetrain of that particular TL is not the reason why I think OP should get a G. It's the exterior design.

I wouldn't buy a G37 that didn't have Bluetooth or Hands-free.
The G37 is also "sportier" in that it lets more exhaust noise into the cabin compared to the TL, but I prefer its interior to the 4G TL.
The 4G TL is a bigger car, too.
That said, I'd recommend a 2008 TL-S over all of your choices.

As for the exterior design, well, it's hit or miss. I like the rear styling (hit) but the high arc of the body line over the front wheel openings and the grill are a miss. It's definately a distinctive design though.

The design team at Honda needs to read this thread.
Oh yeah, G37 here as well. Honestly (and as mentioned earlier), the decision between the 07-08 TL-S and the G37X is much more difficult than the 09 TL vs G37X.

Just get a Garmin 1490 with Bluetooth for $200 to go with the new-to-you G37.
Or get a 2008 TL-S...
So shouldn't this thread be somewhere in the 4G TL subforum?

I just checked Autobytel and couldn't find an 07-08 Type-S by me to try out or I'd definately consider it as well.

The G37 has a nicer interior than the G35 though... I wouldn't get a G35 instead of a G37 just to get hands-free, even with a Navi.

BTW, I test drive the G37 and the sales guy goes for the test drive with me bring my wife with me the next day and again the sales guy goes along for the test drive
I go to the Acura dealer and he hands me the keys and says, "The tank is full, we close at 8pm, just bring it back 5 minutes before closing."

Pose this question in the 4G thread and see what they say lol.
I chose the G, nearly two years later, still happy. The TL is more roomy though... It wouldn't be a bad choice if I could just teleport inside it instead of walking out to it and being exposed to the front end.
Get the G bro.

you got it, except that's an LE sedan from the looks of it (red interior), but yes cup holder cover, gauges, seat heater buttons, all correct.
I think the other one was an '09

I stand corrected on the steering wheel, although there are minor console and door panel changes. I thought the center stack on the G37 I tested was black, like Willdog's last post, but the shifter was a 6M with a boot.
It's still G37 w/o Bluetooth>G35 w/Bluetooth for me.

Drifting
I live my life a quarter mile at a time, nothing else ma..umm..what? Obviously no one drives their car in a constant state of WOT. Are a few tenths of a second to 60 or over a the quarter mile going to matter? Probably not, but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about overall fun to drive factor, which doesn't require WOT to appreciate. There's a good chance I would've gotten the 4G TL w/SH-AWD if it hadn't been so god awful fugly.

Out of those two, the G for sure. However, if you're open to suggestions how about an 06 GS430? That would be in your price range and an absolute dream to drive.

Thanks! Personally, I have driven the G37 (both in coupe and sedan form), and have had the privilege to ride in the GS. I am not doubting the TL's comfort, but to get a base FWD model without the tech package is not worth it IMO.
Furthermore, the GS gets gas mileage on par with both of these cars in V8 form, and has awesome bells and whistles such as heated/cooled seats, adequate power, spacious, and I personally love the look of it. It's also RWD if that matters at all. It is not a car targeted towards my demo, but for that price range its at the top of my list.

I believe only the 6 cylinder does, and if AWD is a selling point I would then go gs350 awd
Heres a local gs 350... a hair above your price range but very low miles. With a little more miles there are plenty wellwithin the OP's price range

absolutely, it's such a classy design. Plus I have heard nothing but rave reviews from a Lexus tech that I know who actually bought himself a gs430. He says the GS is an extremely well built car, but did not have kind words to say about the IS.
and I will stop spamming this thread, but for the OP's reference here is another one, except this is a GS430, a few more miles, but well under your top end price...

Both good choices. I like everything about my 4g tl - except for the grill, but for 200.00 you could get it painted to improve the cars front end look greatly. I vote for the tl.

Right. Didn't I say "minus the front"?
Just curious, but what professional review stated this? Honestly, it's the first I am hearing it.
I get what you are trying to say. However, I still presented a view of the TL to the OP that he might find attractive if he was using the TL as a daily driver. Now that I know he has two toddlers, if it was me, I would appreciate the extra room the TL has to offer. I talked about things that matter in the real world, on a daily basis. The G is a fun car, but you can only have so much fun on your daily commute. If he is going to be driving like a normal person, with kids in the back seat, I don't think the fun factor of the G will be apparent over the FWD TL.
