I've been driving stick for as long as I've been driving and I dont think that I'd switch back to automatic. Whenever I do drive an auto tho it feels like i'm being spoiled. And i must say, sometimes after I've been in traffic for a few hours my leg + foot start to feel awkward and I get upset and start chain smokin
So while the convenience of having an auto is very nice, it doesnt really feel like ur driving.

The eternal discussion...
I have been driving MT for my whole life... (short of my Buick Lesabre, and Saturn View - no choice - got rid of them a while back )
I was born in France and as previously posted they (Europeans) most (read ALL) drive sticks... The mentality over there is if you don't know how to drive a stick you don't know how to drive a car... (I agree with that statement) That's not to say you should'nt drive an auto trans. just that you should know how to drive a stick...
Now having said that I have been driving motorcyles my entire life... and so I don't have much of a choice when it comes to tranny... and therefore LOVE driving MT... in ANY kind of conditions (weather, highway, or otherwise)...
My wife knows and loves how to drive a stick (insert dirty joke here)... We love MT so much we got our latest car (Mazda five) only because it was available in a 5MT...
I have been driving in LA traffic for over 20 years... Yes it's frustrating but I would not trade my stick for anything in the world... BTW I drive in the real Los Angeles (San Fernando Valley and downtown LA)...

Can't wait to drive
I have a 6MT TSX, and live in the LA area. My commute is short though, 30 minutes with traffic, and 15 without so I don't mind too much about manual. I had a 06 TSX 5AT and it though it was really relaxing to drive in traffic when compared to my 6MT, but after going back to my car, the transmission was so much better than that 06 slushbox. If my commute was longer (more than an hour one way) then I would rethink getting a manual.

This is why I am selling my 6-Speed CL and probably getting an IS250. When I lived close to work (4 and then 9 miles) it didn't bother me at all. Now I am 24 miles, which yes is 45-60 minutes in L.A. and I can't take it anymore. Not that I used the car much anyway. I think it's the combination of the traffic and me just getting old and not feeling like shifting anymore
