Would anyone consider the '09 Mazda 6 S GT over '09 TL

an asshole from florida
the new 6 is pretty damn sweet and once they make a speed6(hopefully, and maybe theyll be smart enough to put it in some type of AT form for the lazy ones) it will sell even better.
while the 6 is an economy car its exterior is sooo much better than the TL. and while the TL is sex on the inside, that outside just destroys it all. I mean yes i know that we spend most of our time on the inside of a car, i want a car that when i walk up to i can be like this shit is the secks, not oh fawk what did i do to deserve this.

i'm still meh on the TL's exterior, but i'm hoping it'll grow on me once i see it in person.
as for the comparison, sure the 6 is not in the same class as the TL, but i don't think it's far fetched to believe that people will cross-shop the two. i know many that cross shopped the accord and camry along with the TL so i can see consumers taking a look at the 6.
personally, i would definitely consider the new 6 over the new TL.
and at those that putting down the 6 because it's a mazda.

I dont understand why some of you guys are taking this to heart??
The OP asked if we would consider a Mazda 6 implying that he is open to hear the opinions of of others. Some say they would consider the 6 and others, like myself, would rather spend the money and get the TL for various reasons. Mine being that i like the styling, performance, features, interior, value and of course.....reliability. That being said....im patiently waiting on the 6MT version!

Why stop at a Mazda 6?....you could add a Camry LE/SE V6 or an Accord V6 or a Mustang GT or even a Chevy Cobalt SS....the list goes on and on....all these cars are all under $40K and give similar performance numbers to a TL.....but I think the vast majority of buyers looking at the TL will most likely cross-shop vehicles in its own segment (like a G35, BMW, Lexus).

No, after seeing and sitting in the new TL in person, I can deff say it looks a LOT better in person. The rear actually looks pretty aggressive, and it was just the base model. The only part that really doesn't flow is that damn grille, otherwise its a nice looking car, just not very photogenic. The interior kicks ass though, I don't think there is anything on the market that comes close.

in my opinion, it doesn't matter if cars are not in the same segment because of FWD, RWD, or AWD.
there are so many ways to define "segment" or "class."
regardless of one's definition of segment or class, people will still compare and cross shop an audi to a bmw. or an acura to a bmw or whatever whether it's due to similar size, price, etc.
heck, i remember when the IS350 just came out, and there were people choosing between that and the RL.
