I think that is it as well. Other than possibly an X3 since it would be closer in size to the Jeep it is replacing. I lean towards the X5 though since he did the East Coast pickup with his buddy of an X5M and it might have sold him on an X5 back then.

So how does that work? I'm leasing my Explorer and it's up in June. I thought I had to wait until June to give it back to Ford and go get a Honda?

I think X3 grilles look a little smaller on the older 1G models and looks more modern on the 2011+ models. So my money is still on 2007-2013 X5.

I'll tell the story of what brought me to the dealer.

I've always liked the 3GT. I think its a great looking car. My friend's wife is on her 2nd lease with one. I had been chatting with the dealer as I was looking for replacements...they had JUST got a white on black/red stitching 328iGT from NJ that was an executive demo. Had about 8k miles and stickered at $56k with all the packages. They were offering a sweet heart lease (Demos and loaners can be leased as new cars, did it with our former Highlander) they had very little money down and about $400/mos. So, we went drove it. I liked it. Wife was very unsure as the car had just come off the truck and needed some cosmetic work. So, we were waffling while waiting to get the buyers guide on the car. My sales guy comes up and says, just found and full disclosure this car was in a front end accident and showed us the report. Killed "the too good to be true" deal for us, but someone else came in a got it that day. Since we had made the trek all the way out there, the sales guy offered to show my wife another vehicle, she drove it and liked it a lot more than the 3GT.

He had another appointment and we had been there awhile so we needed to get the kids home. He was going to send us the numbers. That car sold, too. So, he gave a list of others and said look at them and pick a few stock numbers to give him. We found one more similar to one that sold but actually had a couple more features we wanted. Found out...that sold, too.

To be continued...

Not sure if enough will be on lots before your lease is up, but maybe an option?

Gosh I really dislike west coast giant douche BMW drivers. J/K keep us updated on what happens. $400/month would have been a damn good deal. EDIT: ^ Oh crap you have it already. Post the whole photos already!!

Sorry, was running an errand that was time sensitive, and not close to home. So, where was I?

Oh yes.

So, the car we had become interested in went. So, we went through whatever options were left...not too many choices. But there was a space grey model with my wife's "must have" features. But nothing extra...and she wasn't excited about the grey. But I texted my sales guy. And he called me back and said, "Ok, here are the numbers for the Grey one, but better news, the buyers on the one you were more interested in just backed out. So, the car is available again." So, I waited for rush hour to die down. Took an uber from my place way out to Glendale, and signed a lease on the car.

Lease on a former service loaner w/ 4100 miles. 2017 X3 sDrive28i in Jet Black/Beige. Packages: Driver Assist, XLine, Heated front seats, Navigation, and CarPlay.

Nothing special, drives nice. Wife will hopefully like it. I do have to say, I kinda wish it had comfort access...both the Dodge and outgoing Jeep have it, so now we have to get use to using the fob again. It seems downright stupid what bmw doesnt include as standard (back up camera, heated seats, etc) compared to their competition.

Here are your crappy cell phone snaps

Yeah...I'm kind of sitting here going...well the Jeep had that...and that...and that, oh and that. But meh, whatever, she'll get used it and hopefully she likes it. I have to say...that 9 speed tranny (at least on our 1st model year car) just sucks so much that it killed everything I did love about that Cherokee.

And in 3 years...we'll see what this brings.

Congrats on the BMW. That is crazy they leave that out as a feature on a BMW. I don't care what model it is they should all have it at this point.

There a few things the Cherokee has that the bimmer doesnt. Xenons w/ LED daytimes, "comfort access", auto positioning driver's seat for easy ingress/egress (not that it needs it) & remote start off the top of my head.

then 35i will have a lot more standard features but that is BMW... I do not have the Comfort access either if it makes you feel better

you got it from Pacific? They are very aggressive with their pricing. Sometimes i forget how close you are

I used to live right near them when I first moved to LA.

Out of ALL the BMW dealers in LA, they are pretty much the only ones willing to negotiate or make deals. And I liked the sales guy I dealt with, very personable. Every other dealer is arrogant and treats their shit like its precious metals.

Oh another small silly detail. I asked them about home delivering the car since I'm not close. They said they aren't set up for it, couldn't do it. So, because it was the last of the month I had to get up there last night to lock in the deal.

My Dodge dealer is down in Huntington Beach...as far as an 1.5 hours away pending traffic. And THEY offered to send the car to me on a flat bed along with the paperwork ready to sign when I bought my Durango but was unable to get to the dealer.

Come on bimmer....step that shit up.

They could do it... as my friends who work in other BMW dealers deliver cars all the time... it all depends on the deal itself... if they make a lot of $$... then they will do whatever you asked...
If they don't make enough, then of course they won't do anything more for you..... Consider yourself got a great deal....

Santa Monica BMW...used to live across the street from them. They were arrogant dicks back then. Checked them out again...they were nicer this time but arrogant and unwilling to deal at all. They BMW offered deal is the BMW deal, period. No thanks.

I emailed a bit with South Bay BMW...they were trying to say they couldn't lease retired loaners.

And I emailed Century (not New Century) and they didn't have the inventory I was looking, but they might have been willing to deal.

next time around, i think Pacific and New Century are the 2 dealers i know for a fact that have good amount of "loaner/Manager" inventories for leases. Especially New Century.... but you know since they are in Alhambra, their deals are meh...

yeah their Pacific had the larger, more easy to view online inventory. They make it very accessible. Sadly half their loaners are bare bones...And the other dealers are fully loaded.

Not really. We looked at a the Tiguan last month when they had some ridiculous lease deals, of which my wife's parents ended up with one. But she HATED driving it, so that was a no. She didn't want another jeep or I would have been pushing for a Grand Cherokee. There was possibly the Kia Niro...but its brand new. The CX9 has crap lease deals because its so new, and the all new CX5 isn't out yet. I don't love the Q5, my friend has one, he doesn't love it either. We almost ended up with an Infiniti QX30...they aren't selling and I lined up a lease on a top trim for $0 down at $300 a month...but wife didn't like the low roofline, and the back seats were tight. She still loves the Highlander but we dont need a 2 cars with 3 rows (and I think they are boring after our last one) and the deals suck because of the mid model refresh. We kind of ended up here by accident all because of that too good to be true 3GT deal.

Been pushing my sister to explore the options on the luxury CUV/SUV market. I feel the X3, Q5, and GLC300 are all good options. She loves the Macan, but not the price, and the Q5 is a close second for her. Unfortunately the most important thing she cares about is if "looks cute"

She's still stuck in her old ways with car stereotypes, brands mean a lot to her

I suggest to her...

Jeep - "I'm not a redneck"
Buick/Cadillac/Lincoln - "I'm not retired yet"
Alfa - "..."
Acura - "Mom has an Acura already (a 2G TL-S)"

I swear she's intelligent, its just when it comes to cars it's an entirely different story. Women, man.

So yeah looks like I lost all my money on that bet. This is why I don't gamble!

congratulations sarlaac! It looks really good. The smart key not being available is a stupid oversight and quite frankly a serious case of penny pinching in a BMW. But you have to remember that most of your money is going towards a SOLID build quality. If I am not mistaken the 28I is the turbo 6 correct? Or is that the 3.0I?I also picked up something yesterday. I Was going to post today but didn't have a chance so it'll have to wait till maybe tommorow. I had smart key on our garbage 2006 Murano, it was the ONLY thing that I missed, but what I got yesterday has it so call me a happy camper!

It's amazing what they are packing into normal level ( I can't remember the word for common cars that most people can afford/drive just won't come to me) cars these days. They don't miss out on anything. What I picked up last night has cooled and heated seats, heated steering wheel, power folding mirrors, pano roof...etc it goes on lol. So going from my "luxury" 2007 MDX to what I got last night is kinda ironic considering the feature content.

congratulations sarlaac!

2.8i is a 2.0 turbo 4...its pretty punchy, no complaints so far.

The X5 is very nice, I would have loved to get one, but that's way outside my price range at this point.
