Wife wants a bigger car?
She's dropping hints that the trunk in the RDX isn't cutting it for her needs. She tends to overpack, so I can understand.
So, if I were to make a move out of the RDX, where should I go and not break the bank? It'll need to be a third row equipped SUV, but nothing enormous like a Yukon.
RDX only has 15K miles on in, so I am guessing I'll take a bloody bath on any trade. FML.

I still want one. Need to see where we are next year when the prius lease is up.
We are renting one for a few days in a couple weeks when my folks are in town . We'll see how it handles a little trip to San Diego.
I am also still a huge fan of the Durango. I just like the flex's lower stance for ease of operations with kids.
If they would make the rear doors slide minivan style...that would be the ultimate, non-minivan kid hauler.

Speaking of minivans...there is argument.
"RDX is too small? Which Minivan would you like then?"
Bet the conversation ends right quick.

I had this problem! I used to drive a Pacifica, and with the 3rd row up, no room in the trunk for groceries/kids stuff. I have 3 kids so 3rd row was necessary, up all the time. I test drove an MDX and to be honest with u, didn't think that trunk space was sufficient enough either. How about a pathfinder or armada? Those were check plus plus in my book! (these are the problems of us wives lol)

^^the pathfinder... we just had one as a rental. awkward entry to the rear, cheap plastic interior...handling was awful...3rd row? not sure if i saw one. we crammed 4 adults and a lots of luggage into the back of one (impeding the rear window). acceleration as lackluster.
the pilot has a ton of space (it's bigger-taller, slightly longer and bigger 3rd row than the MDX). i've parked next to one...the pilot makes the MDX look small.

A happy wife makes a happy home! That being said maybe not just blow her off. I agree with the user that said trying a certified pre owned MDX. If it doesn't just HAVE to be an Acura maybe a GMC Yukon Denali.

I'll throw my two cents in only because I went thru what you are going thru. Wife had an Explorer and wanted more. I took her directly to Buick and showed her the Enclave. Three hours later she drove off the lot with a loaded one. In my opinion, nothing comes close as far as bang-for-the-buck!!

3rd row comes as an upgrade. I wouldn't base the assumption of a car on the rental car version, u get what u pay for and usually rentals are base models at best lol. A friend of mine has a pilot and while it is roomy, I don't believe the trunk space is as adequate

We love our 09 MDX and it pretty much replaced our 2000 Quest as the family hauler, doing an exemplary job thus far.
As for price, Acura will give you a relatively generous markdown. Although a base model, we picked up a new 09 for well under $40k. (We were about 24hrs away from picking up a then new 09 Murano LE AWD when Clinton Acura broadsided our plans.) I suspect that deals have become better on the 12 model particularly as the redesigned 3G should be out soon.
With regard to the other players mentioned (Pilot, Explorer, Pathfinder, etc,...), they DO have the utility down pat but, wont have the performance and handling dynamics of the current MDX. (yeah, yeah I know: who cares about power and handling in this segment? :wave ) As well as my 12 Accord handles, my MDX stick almost as well.
And while looks are subjective, I can't think of an SUV priced at <$50k that looks as as the MDX.....especially in CBP!!!
