AZ: official state of people who had an Acura sometime in the 1990s and now lust after every Audi, BMW, Infiniti, and Lexus on the market.

When's the TL up for redesign? 2009?

New model should be out in the fall of 08 as a 09 model if Acura keeps up with it's cycle.

Anyone driving a 5AT TL under 80 mph with stock wheels/tires can get at least 32 mpg on a long highway trip.

The 'G' by a mile. By looking at the interior Infiniti have taken a good look at the current TL and then upped the ante. Engine-wise, that V6 is awesome as it is. I read 80% of it had been re-designed and 310+hp will take it to another level.

My 05 TL is slick but front wheel drive only takes the driving experience so far and I am getting itchy feet and the 07 'G' looks a better choice. How long can Acura persist in building front wheel drive or front-wheel drive based AWD systems?

They should rebadge the RL as a "TL", sell it for $41k, and call it a day. At the rate the RL is going, there's really no where else for the TL to go (300hp v6? AWD?...sounds like an RL to me!)

If i was in the market for a car in the G35's segment (mid to upper $30k), I'd be thinking really hard about spending that couple grand extra for the RL.

Plus the after market mods for the Acura engines are a joke compared to G35. I want to slap a turbo on the G35.

I just think Infiniti is a step ahead of Acura now. They are making a name for themselves. I think Acura is still lost on what they want to be.
That's a good observation.. Since it will be the G35's first year, I am concerned if they are going to have problems. Does anyone know the history of this?

Ok, that new G looks niiiiice!!! Damn, this is a huge upgrade, looks much, much better than the current G35 sedan. Great interior, finally put the Navi screen in the dash and not that stupid pop up thing. Nice little analong clock upgrade too. Dual exaust too??

exactly.

if TL came with SH AWD. the RL would be out of business. there wouldnt be a need for the RL at all. its almost the same size as the TL and for some reason looks more dated when it came out later..

This is hardly even a fair comparison considering that the TL is mid-model cycle while the G35 is getting a complete update. If the new G35 didn't improve beyond the current TL, then it would have been a total farce for Infiniti to bring the car to market.

For me, neither of these cars make me want to upgrade from my 04TL. It isn't worth it dollar wise, or for what I would be getting.

Until the TL gets AWD, I won't even consider it again. Why would I want more power in a TL, if the torque steer in the 04 already drives me nuts?

I am excited to see what this 07 TL will look like though.

I was pretty anxious to see what the RL was going to look like considering how well they redesigned the current TL. But I've become disillusioned since the debut of the RL, so not getting hopes up too high for the next TL...hopefully they have gotten over the mindset that consumers like not what consumers like, but what Honda likes.

I'm in the same boat as Ol Blue Eyes. I love my car (2002 TLS) and can't stomach eating the depreciation on it. I have taken such great care of the car and modded it tastefully (IMHO).

I've always wanted a g35c but the interior dash is what killed the deal at first. But now that my GF requires a car soon (Sept 2006 the latest), I've thought about passing my car down and getting a car for myself. I even started thinking about that g35c again ... even looking in the market for a used 2004-2005 model since I will need a car for the fall. Only coupe I want / in my price range is a G35c.

My options:

1) Buy a lightly used G35c and drive that one into the ground;
2) GF buys reliable cheaper car (eg Civic / Corolla) and trade my TLS in when the coupe comes out (I really love my TLS though ...)
3) GF leases a car 2 years (what's a safe, reliable car good on gas with a great lease rate right now?) then I pass my TLS down to her at the end of the lease and I upgrade to a 2nd gen G35c

Thoughts? Sorry if

I would consider a G35 sedan over the TL right now. When the 4th gen TL comes out ... I might reconsider!

Nissan/Infiniti dealerships are currently integrated, although the service departments tend not to be. Right now the entire dealership infrastructure is going through a change that will make them seperate.

Infiniti has been in the top 10 for satisfaction surveys for quite awhile. It was top 5 for a few years but slipped to like 8 last year.

The '03 G35s have been pretty rock solid. I've owned two for a combined total of over 200,000 miles with one issue (fuel injection stabilizer thingy went bad, replaced under warranty in an hour). The VQ engine has been around for like 10 years now, same with the FM platform; unless it has some weird electrical issues that the current G hasn't had I'd venture to guess it'll be solid.

You should've made a poll on this whoever started this thread.

Umm... I don't know about you, but again this is just a myth, but The G35 is Made in Japan and the TL well Made in Ohio. I would pick the G35 based on better build quality and reliability, which is why I got the TSX over TL, because it's Made in Japan and so far it's been reliable except for a few rattles.....

Also, is SH-AWD confirmed for the 07 TL?

yeah I was thinking the same thing. though my 05 isn't as nearly as bad as my 04 Max was. I can't imagine any more power going to the front wheels

huh?

the dealership I bought mine from shares floorspace with a Jag dealership. The entire dealership network (toyota, jag, chevy, infiniti, a couple others) doesn't sell nissans at all.

My former Acura dealership though was part of Honda, Hyundai, Suzuki. the Acura dealership shared floorspace with Suzukis (cars, not motorcycles) up until a couple years ago.

infiniti service is always great.. nissan is definitly horrible! i HATE talking to anyone at nissan. this is why my family was always turned away from nissan. not because we dont like the cars, imean they have some great cars (murano, Z, max...) but the way people are the sales talk to you.. wow total garbage. not to mention when my gf had the Z, no one ever took her serioously at the service department. well.. at least she got rid of the nissan now. even under warranty that car was too much trouble. she drives an accord now

They just built a HUGE Infiniti dealer in my area and they only selling Infiniti's there. Nissan dealer is about 15 miles away from them, maybe they wanted to get as far as they could from the Nissan dealer.

My family has never owned a Nissan or Toyota branded car. They feel the same way. When I go to a Honda dealer, I feel warm and fuzzy inside, like I've just had a plate of warm chocolate cookies and a tall glass of milk.

Most Nissan dealers make you feel filthy all over, and then you realize that the resale values, until recently, have sucked so bad that your car would likely end up in the ghetto with Kmart-sourced wheel covers later in its life.

Yes, the Freshalloy guys do know about this. Nissan still has a ways to go!

Well yes and no. They all have their own names (unlike Nissan/Infiniti which go by "Nissan/Infiniti Agincourt or Dixie or whatever), so like Acura of Woodbridge or Acura 2000 etc, but some are in the same building as a Honda dealership.

The Nissan/Infiniti places all have seperate show rooms and salespeople, but it's the same service department.

They're in the procesess of breaking apart right now. I should have remembered that when I live in California they were seperate, I just got so used to "Nissan/Infiniti" up here.

Incidentally Infiniti service here in the GTA is hit or miss. Some dealerships are good, some suck; they definitely need to seperate from the Nissan dealerships. In California my Infiniti dealership ruled.

I just wish that acura doesnt stay with the same powertrain for teh life of the car. They have to really bring the TL to at leaset 300 horses with awd to make it competition, performance-wise for the G35.

What is the chance that Honda/Acura will release the next gen 08 TL with 350HP SH-AWD and be competitive with the G35?

Quick Reply: Who would buy the '07 G35 over the '07 TL knowing that...
